    Hi Lynn,
Hope you continue to feel better. There didn't seem to be enough interest or a designer for an embroidered BOM. So I digitized the 2010 BOM but still have Oct., Nov., Dec., to do. Then I need to complete the quilt. My work completed so far is in the Gallery.

I took out time to make my Christmas gifts and cards AND finish the bed sized embroidered quilt that my husband requested. The quilt is composed of pieced blocks done in the hoop, applique in the hoop, embroidered crazy patches, and some redwork (done in green) along with machine quilting and machine decorative stitching. Most of the blocks are purchased designs. I digitized the crazy patches by combining purchased designs. I can modify designs and do some basic digitizing but I cannot digitize from scratch and really do not want to become a digitizer. So I guess what I am saying is that those of us who would like to have a BOM for machine embroidery...we are on our own. The 2011 BOM is lovely and appears to combine techniques but I don't think I'll be doing it this year. I have noticed that there are more and more machine embroidered quilts available commercially.

I just noticed that Edyta Sitar has a wonderful embroidered sampler pattern! It's available here: http://www.laundrybasketquilts.com/Shop/shopindex.htm

Thanks Margo. I'm new to machine embroidery - bought my Bernina 640e last summer - but am not interested in digitizing patterns. Her patterns look very tempting

            Hi Libby
Thanks for your wishes. Ditto re: not wanting to digitize from scratch, I thought JoJo was interested in running some Tuts etc. perhaps I read it wrong. Anyway, almost 1 in morning, so wil post again in while when its not so late! will also be checking everyones new work. Small amount seen to far was very impressive!
            best wishes all

              Hello all,
Just an update. Hoopsisters has downloadable designs on the website. That saves me a fortune in time, currency conversion and customs duty. The entire range is not available but I chose the Mariners Compass because DH loves geometric designs. The instructions include several suggested layouts that require multiple sewouts of the various block (they come in a 5" and 8" version and all the formats for different systems). My person preference--and this is just ME--is creating a variety of blocks. I grow weary of doing the same block over and over. I chose to do the single compass design rather than sew up to 32 of the same block.

Hoopsisters also have a Mystery Quilt and a BOM. Some designs are only available as part of a dealer's course.

I am also getting practice with quilting in the hoop. I should have done this with the 2010 Hugs and Kisses BOM. I do not like to quilt a full sized bed quilt in the hoop. The weight of the quilt is very tricky to distribute on the sewing surface to avoid pulling on the hoop. The second line of double stitched designs can come offline and the joins may be off.

Just found this thread... has anyone mentioned that Lunchbox Quilts
                http://www.lunchboxquilts.com/shop/#...pplique-quilts
has digitized designs for embroidered or machine appliqued quilts? I've got "Autumn Winds" and have used the various embroidered leaves (I LOVE leaves!) on lots of other projects around the house, like making a draft-stopper-snake for our front door. Since others mentioned Embroida-block and Hoopsisters, I also have the Goose Tracks quilt designs. I am not finished making that, because I was having a bit of trouble with bird's nests underneath, on my older Pfaff Creative 2.0. So I never tried putting a square of the backing fabric under the hoop and using the matching embroidery thread (instead of plain white lightweight bobbin embroidery thread) in the bobbin so that the back of the finished quilt would have all that gorgeous embroidery too!
Discouraged, I stopped working on it. Now that I have the newest Pfaff, which after it's software update is embroidering like a dream, I WILL want to re-do those first Goose Tracks blocks with the backing fabric floating under the hoop!
But right now, I'm still messing about trying to practice FMQ and watching every video I can find on that subject!

I think a machine embroidered BOM would be delightful. I also think that free motion machine embroidery could be an option for some or all) of the blocks (this would be inclusive on those who don't have an embroidery machine)...using different techniques throughout a BOM is one of the great ways to learn things, I think.
