Need paper piecing help!

Your final block #3 looks great!

I've still got my first "paper piece project"... a UFO! It's one of those tiny wall hangings... a Xmas tree with presents and a train underneath... and flying geese up the side, etc. I thought I'd make 'two' one for each of my children... I stopped at the train engine. the pieces were so tedious, even the geese... It's here in a basket.. and some day I will continue... just not now :-)

My problem revolves around extending the sewing line into the 1/4" seam allowance. Logic tells me that I should do this for secure seams, but for most of the seams in this block I can't trim the seam allowance without picking out that extension all the way back to the finished edge of the block.

Robin, first of all, it looks like you're sewing on the wrong side of the pattern! You should have the fabric on the backside of the printing. That said, the problem you're talking about isn't a problem at all! You just pull the fabric and stitches away from the paper, you don't have to unstitch.
