Free motion quilting with a starter

I made a postcard today using a tutorial I found through Facebook. Machine Quilting magazine is giving access to Jenny Bowker's tutorial. Here's a link
http://machinequilting.mqumag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/MQU-11-05-May-Starter-Scrap-Quilting.pdf I wanted to share it because it's such a good idea.

My postcard, I love this technique

Wendy, very nicely done! I love the mug rug! I took Jenny's class where she taught this technique, but on a larger scale. It's great to start out controlled by a fabric design, and then continue out into the negative space with your own creativity. And, there's that wonderful edging of yours, again! I'm going to have to try that!

Do post a pic here of what you do . I'm very tempted to make a bigger quilt maybe for a baby.

Great idea for a starting point. Thanks for the heads up Wendy.

Could be a fun way to make a set of placemats, using the same fabric for the inspiration square, and then bundle them in batches of 4/6 and hey presto ready made gifts ready & waiting... :cheer:

I've just seen the most amazing quilt posted in Community bit by Annawich. I hope this link works so you can see it. I've asked her if she'd like to post it here.

Beautiful morning Anne, playing badminton then shopping for sofa and hopefully sew this evening. How's your day panning out?

Over the weekend I finally pinned the layers together for Janet Stone's BOM now all I have to do is pluck up the courage to quilt it. I also did some mindless sewing using scraps like Bonnie Hunter. I'm going to use them for mug rugs.
This morning DH and I went to a very nice garden centre for some plants to put in pots.....they will have to wait till tonight as it's too hot right now.
We moan when it's cold and now it's too hot.
I am just about to go and do some sewing ...more scraps...it's great fun and it's nice and cool in the sewing room.
                          Have a good week
                          Anne

Kathy, how do you go about doing that? I went to the page and could see the gorgeous quilt, and could see your comment, but I don't see a "like" button. Thanks!
