I tried the Sharon Schamber hoop, it worked ok to keep things flat near the needle. It doesn't fit under the presser foot of my Pfaff, it does fit under the presser foot of the Janome since I can lift that pretty high, and it doesn't fit under the hopping foot of my sweet sixteen sit-down machine. You just have to remember to move the hoop because the foot will stop when it hits the hoop!

Hi Lili, and welcome to the forum.

There was a discussion about the octi-hoops here http://forum/this-and-that-quilting-...489-octi-hoops

I hope this helps answer some of your queries.

I used several such hoops in the beginning, but quickly found that I don't need it if I use a good pair of quilter's gloves. They give you the grip you need to hold the quilt as you stitch it, and the hoops are in the way and require moving around, etc. I use Fons and Porters, but there are several brands.

I also learned early on that gloves were the best for me. I do use a hoop once in a while for details and
          small things.

I tried Sharon Schambler's halo several different times over the last couple of years and it didn't work for me at all. I'm putting it in a box of sewing stuff I'll never use again and list it on Craig'slist or eBay. Machingers gloves work best for me.

It's interesting to see how we each use products. I find myself taking off my gloves and
going back to Sharon Schamber's Halo. I like the weight and how it moves the fabric for me.
Guess we all need to see what works for us.
