Can I borrow that book Connie
Would it be horribly expensive to mail one book across the pond and down under? 8)

Well if everyone passed it on to the next in the same region (possibly adding a mug rug for that 'next'), the cost should be manageable. But depending on the number of stops it would take months, or even years until it gets back to you... 2-5 days for the mailing time for every stop - and who knows how often it will take more than a day or two to read, sign, repackage and pass on :P

Postage for the BOM kit to come from the US was over $40.00. Sorry to disappointGail, Far North Queensland, Australia

Originally posted by ReetzbobeetzI starched both fabrics. I also tried sewing with the corner piece up and down but it was all those pins that drove me crazy. So I went back to Susan's link to sewing drunkards path without pinning. I practiced a few times until I was pretty sure I could do it and that's what I did for the rest. A few ended up not right so I just ripped them out and did them again. I think the trick with this method is to hold the corner piece LIGHTLY on top and away from the bottom piece, and to focus on the bottom fabric always going straight under the 1/4" foot. If you pull the top fabric at all it goes wrong. That's how I got them done so quickly. If anyone is going to try that method, please, please practice it first until you are sure you are getting it right.

No Susan. Please check pages 5 and 6 of your instructions. In month 3 you are to make 36 arc/quarter round units and assemble them into:
4 Arc Corner Blocks with an arc and background E
8 Arc Half Blocks with an arc and background F
and save the remaining 16 assembled arcs with quarter rounds to use in month 4. (Read on page 5 - third paragraph)

Sue, I cut out my corners from 5" squares. I made them slightly bigger - just like Margo did, so the arc was the right size but I left the two sides bigger so that I could square them up later with ease. I used a slightly smaller than the default stitch length - my default stitch length is 2.20 and I used 2.00. I definitely advise that you try a few samples first until you are confident that you can stitch without pulling the corner arcs because that will stretch it. Good luck.

Margo,
Thanks for the video on paper piecing the arcs while not sewing into the paper. The arcs came out great and sewing them to the center was easy (once the pinning was completed). I now have pinned 12 arcs to the two types of light turquoise shapes and then pin 8 final arcs and I am done for this month. I enjoy paper piecing arcs and find the results satisfying. Looking ahead to next month, I can see I have a lot more arcs to do.
