    Oops for October Star border

I have this week off for vacation and am getting a good start on the border. Noticed in the instructions it says 7 stars for the top and bottom and 6 for each side. It should be 5 for the sides according to the overall picture and the amount of stars we made. Probably a nitpicking finding but just wanted to let everyone know.

Thanks for pointing out the discrepancy - it's been fixed and will be posted shortly.

    Happy sewing -

Sue, I ran off this pattern this morning before the new posting of the oops. On which page do I have to make the change? I want to save paper and not run another 9 pages. Thanks. Judy in AZ

Judy, the error was in the text where the number was stated incorrectly. If you will make 2 strips with 5 stars and 2 strips with 7 stars, JUST LIKE THE DIAGRAMS, you will use all of your star blocks and everything will fit just fine.

(I looked for the typo, and never did find it!) :?

Thanks, Margo, I looked again and couldn't find it, either. Maybe I got the reprinted instructions after all. Anyway, I am only on February. I have to get busy, I guess. I finished January of 2008 , hand appliqueing. I am slow. I was hand appliqueing Christmas blocks all summer for another project. Maybe soon I will get my act together and work on both. Judy in AZ

Thanks, I found it. I think I was looking for 6 instead of six. So I changed it to 5. Judy in AZ

Jenny, maybe the secret to all of this is to wait until the 2nd of the month to print out the pattern. By then, any mistake will have been found. Put the orphans on the back of your quilt as a label. Judy in AZ

Yes Judy I totally agree and also one should always read all the directions from start to finish before commencing a project, if i had have done this i would have realised what was going on. the orphan blocks will be put to good use.

Orphan blocks make great starters for matching pillow shams :-)

While cut out the triangles for the October block, I didn't have a ruler that I could cut the 11 inch square block, so I used two rulers..bad mistake!! I cut my blocks 10 in. square! I thought I was going to die, but luckily, as someone was watching over me, I call the Quilt Show Shoppe and Patti was just cutting the left over fabric into fat qtr. for the Houston Show. I told her my delemna, and she found a 12 in. strip for me and mail it to me. It arrived yesterday, so now I can finish this month stripes. I'd like to say a big THANK YOU to Patti and all the TQS staff and bless you all.

I posted a blog with photos for my October round. I can't decide which fabrics or placement. I would appreciate any input.
