Had to postpone sewing September together while I replaced a May block that I lost when I took everything to Madison for show and tell with my friend. Couldn't find the right pink fabric so now I have an orphan block. It shouldn't be too noticable because I used the pink fabric from September. I don't know about anyone else but I am so done with these stars and my fruity colors. I can't wait to move on. Gloria

Well, I just finished September BOM, now back to August blocks LOL!
I counted my sawtooth stars and I was two short, so had to cut and sew them..I used my own color selection, as I'm not sure what month I forgot them in...it's a good thing I happen to look into my scrap bag and see all those half-square triangles in it..now where do you suppose they come from..hmmm!
I'll be so glad when we finish the stars!..it's been a real challenge, but now it's getting tiring..I thought Nan was going to tell me her trade secret on how she finishes her blocks so fast..

I'm reading all your posts and chuckling to myself as I'm still back on saw-tooth stars somewhere in May or June. I decided to just do them all mindlessly and get it over with. So here I am, doing them, watching TV and mindlessly tearing off paper, finger pressing seams, and then off to the sewing machine.

I haven't done a monthly block (other than these) since April, but will catch up soon. In between all these months I have moved to Georgia, first for a summer stay, and now for a winter stay also! Enjoying the climate, the trees, the FALL (my first since leaving South Dakota in 1966) and making four visits to my grandchildren in NC since mid June. I think it was a productive summer with or without BOM. But it's time to get caught up! Just reading all the posts and tips will take a while! ha

I finished the sawtooth stars, finally. Just selected the colors for the 6 inch blocks this morning. I'm so ready to move on. I love the way the blocks look, and am looking forward to cutting pieces larger than 1-1/2 inches. 8-)

I made a quick 9 block churn dash top this past week, and wow, what a difference in my sewing from a year ago! It was very accurate, including the border which had a section with 1 inch squares of background and colors! Not strip pieced, either. Woohoo- it's amazing what concentrated practice will do.

I finished all of my sawtooth stars months ago in a chainsewing blitz. However, I just introduced some new fabrics in my September Border blocks that were not included in any of the sawtooth stars, the center medallion, four patches or pinwheels. It's too late to add these fabrics to my four patches or pinwheels, since they are already attached to the center medallion. So, I'm considering that I should make a few extra sawtooth stars with these new fabrics. Maybe, I can use the extra sawtooth stars in place of the log cabin blocks in the corners of the outer border of this quilt. Also, there is still an opportunity to add these fabrics in the flying geese border. I really hope that these new fabrics blend in successfully.

I finished my September blocks and September Saw Tooth Star blocks today and posted them. Everyones blocks are just beautiful. Sorry I haven't had time to comment on everyone's blocks this month, but my husband's 87 year old aunt had knee surgery, and I am her caregiver. She is now doing great, but still is in rehab. Thanks for being such a supportive group.

I am getting a little nervous about quilting this quilt. I hope Sue's or Margo's quilt will be at the Houston show, so that I can look at the quilting.
