I'm so pleased with myself to have finished my block. I took it to my workplace, but they just weren't impressed. I showed it to some quilting friends of mine, and their responses were that they didn't do paper-piecing. ho-hum. Oh well, I'm doing this project for myself, and it will be the first quilt I have ever kept for myself, too. (I'm always giving quilts away.) One thing that helped me was that I worked doing all the same type of blocks together as assembly-line so that it worked out that I was placing the same pieces on four similar paper-strips, essentially sewing the same seam on all four blocks one after another, then waited to clip threads beween the four sewn pieces at the same time, and then trimmed, then pressed, then lined up the same four for the next tiny scrap of material. Working that way, it did save me some time and "thinking backwards" brain activity! Thank you so much for this pattern. I can hardly wait for February's block.

      I finished mine yesterday!

I took a class at my guild on feathered stars the first year I started quilting and I only did 2 of the points. I did not know what a feathered star or paper piecing was when I signed up for the class and I was definately not ready for it at the time. It turned me off of paper piecing. I finally got myself to try paper piecing again last year and did a quilt for a LQS. But I had not attempted another feathered star until this week.

I have to stay that the directions made this one so much easier. I actually enjoyed doing it.

Mine isn't done yet, but I'm working on it like Lois did, sewing the same seam on all similar pieces at the same time. Between shows yesterday I got three pieces sewn on four similar strips. Hope to get some more done today.
Frances in Austin where it's supposed to be close to freezing but I don't think the cold front came as far south as they thought it would.

We had Bee at my house last night and I showed all of them my block they oood and awwed so it was a nice compliment. Most people don't realize the work involved until you tell them there are almost 160 pieces! (158).

February will be fun but I'll be on vacation when the March block comes out so I'll be sad to miss it. I'm sure I can still work on my Sept-Dec 2008 blocks in the meantime.

It is quite cold here, we may not get out of the single digits till next week. After being in Florida last weekend, it's a hard adjustment, my sewing room eases the pain of the weather.

            Have a good day all.

posting the photo successfully was almost as much a sense of accomplishment as finishing the block... almost. lol.

You may not belive this...I can hardly belive it myself, I have started the BOM in red/whites too  It may not end up the size intended, but I will sew it as large as my red/white fabrics allows it to be without buying new fabric. I will post a picture when its done...next week I guess.

Woot woot!! I have completed and posted my first feathered star. I am so looking forward to this year and going through this process with all my fellow Bomettes. I have posted my block and fabrics on my profile. I am so tempted in making two of these quilts. If I find the perfect brown and pink focus fabric I just might make two again.

Your feathered star is very pretty. Everyone has done a great job,I like them all. It was alot of fun to make, paper piecing can be addicting.

I found a site that has alot of nice free patterns, and they have some paper piecing blocks also. They have alot of patterna and the directions to copy. I'm looking towards afew paper piecing projects in the future.
