I will have to admit that I was not too fond of the show & tell area at first, but now that I have gotten used to it, it is a fantastic way to get to see everybody's blocks together and to make a comment on the indivdual blocks.

Got my feathered star posted! It was a bit of a challenge, but I did it. I'm a Bomette! How cool is that? 8)

This block is creating a lot of excitment. A small group of mine meets Monday nights to work on quilts and learn our individual software. Showed my BOM blocks and one of the gals joined last week and has now gathered her fabrics to start on the star. They all love the show and tell where you can see all the blocks in the different fabrics. Great job and such a wonderful display. At the end of each day I like to pop in to see the new ones sent in. Such a treat.

The blocks are so beautiful! I love seeing all the different fabrics and what differences they make in each feathered star block. I finally had time to choose my fabrics and get them washed. I can't wait to get started!

I just posted my block on a more solid background in my profile. I'm still trying to make up my mind on the next step. Comments welcome

Wow, I was away for the weekend doing my Disney 1/2 Marathon, missing all of you and before I went to bed last night had to check on everyone's progress. Wow, I was stunned to see how many more have been posted.

                  All Different, All Beautiful.

                  Great Job everyone.

Great job EVERYONE on your blocks. I check the show n tell area quite frequently to see the new posts. I am loving the color combinations. There are way too many for me to address individually although I'd like to.

Denise, way to go on the Disney half. I ran that about 10 years ago & loved it. It was one of my most memoriable positive experiences. Unfortunately, I quit running afterward and never got back into it.

Anne the feathered star you are using for your profile picture is beautiful!! Maybe it will inspire someone to add piecing to the center of their BOM block!!

Margo, are you kidding me??? I could barely get mine done as it was. LOL  I'll bet by the time we're done this quilt, our piecing skills will be much better though!

Anne, I powerwalked the 1/2. At my age and having never run, it's a great option and excellent workout! It does take away from my quilting time

OK, back to work for me!

I just figured since we have one star posted that is scaled down to 50% (Anabeth) and one that's enlarged (AJClapp), maybe someone will throw in a pieced center! It could happen!!!

I am loving seeing ALL of the centers ---- but don't have enough time to compliment each and every one of them or I'll never get off of my computer chair - which I must do - so I can sit in my quilting chair! (actually it's the same chair which I just roll around!)

I've done pieced centers in the past and thought about doing a double feathered star but decided the pieces would have to be way too small. I do want to do one someday but it will be on a much larger block size. Marsha McCloskey has some ideas for pieced centers in her book Feathered Star Quilt Blocks I, but I agree that this block is challenging enough without adding any more pieces! Annis

Thanks Margo. Sue Garman was behind the inspiration for that block. If you go way back on Sue's blog, you will see a post about the feathered star. I believe her example has a pieced center like that. At the time I read Sue's post, I was working on a simple wall hanging with a star center. I wanted to jazz it up a bit so I found that block in my EQ program and paper pieced it. I would have never been able to do it without paper piecing. I didn't intend for the block to have a + effect. By the time I realized my error, I didn't have enough fabric to redo.

Although, I had pieced the similar star, Sue's instructions for the January BOM really helped. For my star, I couldn't see how the various segments fit together and ended up having set in seams. Sue's instructions made putting the sections together a snap.
