My update for today is I have all the templates cut out, and the fabrics selected for the block. Will start cutting out the pieces tomorrow.

I want to have some of this ready to go for Thursday when I go to my small guild, where we are having Sit and Sew after our business meeting.

So far I've got the pattern printed out, taped together, figured I'd better clean up my cutting table, and put away some fabric as I had been making some cards, tonight I hope to pick the fabrics. For some reason the day job just seems to get in the way of having fun, as I can't stay up as long as I want to. Pity indeed!! Heidi

I spent yesterday getting ALL those little pieces ready to be sewn down, and I'm still not done.

I experimented with different ways to make those little circles. I had printed the pattern out on Ricky Timms Totally Stable disolvable stabilizer. I cut out a few circles and sewed one to the front side of my fabric. I used a short stitch (1.0) and had bottom line thread top and bobbin. My thoughts were to make a small slit in the stabilizer and pull the fabric through. Stabilizer is too flimsy and tore. Then sewed circle to the back side of my fabric, thinking I could use sewing line as a guide to tuck the fabric under. Looked terrible. Yesterday I received the mylar circles that I ordered from The Quilt Show Shoppe, and used the 5/8" circle template. The instructions with the circles said to use spray starch, spray it into a saucer, and then place your fabric in the liquid to soak. Then form the fabric around the template and iron. Well, that made the best looking circles.

I don't know if I am going to do the tiny circles. I may just use my eyelet buttonhole stitch instead. I also am not going to do the square on the center of the 6-pointed stars, but use a contrasting 1" circle.

I did get all the bias stems made.

My quilting room is an absolute mess now, with all the little snips on the floor. Then I knocked over my water mug (fortunately, it had a lid and a straw) with red Crystal Lite in it, and had to use my SpotBot (if you don't have one, I highly recommend it! Works great! Got a great workout last year when my poor doggie got diarrhea )

Gotta work today and tomorrow, but hopefully I will get this done before the weekend! Saturday is my LQS BOM, and next Tuesday I have ModaU mystery quilt BOM. I need to keep up, or I am grouchy  !

Maggie, which Moda U Mystery are you doing? My LQS is doing the chocolate blocks. I am needle turning it all because I took it with me back east where I didn't have a machine to machine applique. Judy in AZ

Dana, welcome back to the BOM squad. I am looking forward to seeing your creation.

Maggie, you tired me out just reading your post.

Yep. This one is slow and easy for me too. Haven't even printed it yet, but am enjoying seeing all my finished (6) ones on my design wall! Must be the summer heat has gotten to me.

This block is really exciting, isn't it! I have one stem down and was feeling pretty good about it. Then I counted, and there are 11 stems! Slow and easy really is the way to go on this one. Marge in Ohio where the sun is finally shining.

I stayed up late last night and got all the stems made...I just hope I can remember which one I planned for which stem, or I'll end up with something an inch short of what I need... but anyway, this looks like it will be tricky with all of the over/unders, if I can get all that to match the pattern I'll be lucky! Might be able to start the back-basting at George's baseball game tonight...

OOOOO! That TBird IS fun! It is my ride of choice for our local quilt shop hop (that will be next weekend).

The ModaU mystery quilt is baskets, don't know what the name is off the top of my head (I'm at work).

I think Susan lulled us into thinking we are all geniuses, then hit us with the July block! The berries actually were easy, compared to those little hearts and little leaves! I'm almost regretting not doing my usual raw edge applique. Ah, well, that which does not kill us makes us stronger, right!?

Maggie in E. Central Illinois, sure hoping it holds off raining until after 8pm tonight, as I rode my scooter into work (don't ask how many vehicles we have at our house!)

Got mine cut out and fused. HOW MANY LITTLE PIECES CAN ONE BLOCK HAVE! I too have lots of little pieces on my floor, sewing table, ironing board, and clothes to clean up. On to sewing those teeny tiny circles. Will post pic when finished. Camille

i debated whether to go and find a bunch of buttons....then thought don't do it, it won't match the other blocks! I am one of the 15 1/2 blk people, sigh.....so I freaked when I printed this one out and looked at the teeeeeeeny circles. So, I have gone back and printed this one out at the correct size. the vase is small on this one, so i think I can pull it off and it won't be too noticeable.
We are headed to our rustic cabin this weekend, no electricity, running water, etc. So will try to relax and cut and cut and cut.........

Thanks for sharing your block changes. I have my pattern printed and fabric picked out and hope to start on the process tomorrow since I am up so late it is already the 4th. So later in the day today or tomorrow for sure.

I've really enjoyed working on this BOM my first!
