I have posted my March BOM. It was reassuring to hear Sue say last night that the blocks won't necessarily be getting progressively more difficult, because this one was more than enough challenge for me at this stage.

The past few days in Northeast Ohio have been icy, so staying in and working on the BOM was a great way to spend the days. I have also posted a photo of the icy garden in my profile. Much better to stay in and work on my quilt than deal with the ice!!

Marge watching the ice melt so that it can snow and sleet more tomorrow! Thanks goodness for this project!!

Your block is beautiful Marge! And your garden looks about like mine does right now. Luckily we have the BOM flowers to make us smile while we wait for the real ones outside!

Marge, Beautiful March block. Your blocks look so nice together, I can really tell what your quilt is going to look like when you are finished. I love it.

Marge, I love your grey background! It is so great to see how everybody is using different fabrics to get a different look!

                Hello everyone,

Margo found a small mistake in the March BOM. She has REALLY good eyes. The rose stem on the left side of the basket should have 4 leaves (on the left side-just up from the rose), but the pattern only gave three. So, we contacted Sue Garman. Sue sent a revision and Bob has updated the pattern.

Happy Stitching. We LOVE seeing what you all are doing-so many great color combinations!

I've posted my March BOM!! The leaf that Lilo mentioned is NOT CRITICAL to the look of the block. However, if you have already appliqued your block, and want to try to add the missing leaf, you may want to check out my tutorial (album #9) to see how I added mine. I didn't notice it until after I had stitched the stem in place. In fact, I had a couple of DO-OVER places on this block, but in spite of that, I still thoroughly enjoyed working it!

P.S. If you just need the revised stem, you can print out pages 5 & 6 of the pattern.

Another gorgeous block Margo! And thanks for the heads-up on the leaf!

well dang it, I've not gotten very far on this block, but I HAVE got that stem on! but just holding my finger over the errant leaf, I'm thinking the whole thing will look rather balanced without it, there's some similar open space opposite.
So when we gather in LaVeta for show & tell, we can sort by the "haves" and "have nots"!!!

Hello, I have a question for YOU!! This is my first time doing machine applique!! What is the general rule for clear/smoke thread? Is clear only for white fabrics and smoke for everything else? What do you think?

Personally, I use the clear for most of my projects. Some folks say that the smoke is a little more shiney, or reflects more light. I use the clear because that's what I have always bought, and think it works fine for everything. However, with that said, I realize that a lot of people are a whole lot more particular than I am. :?

Love all the March blocks. I'm beginning to work on mine, but haven't gotten far yet. I think I'll just leave that leaf off and not worry about it since I have my foundation already done. Not too late, however, so I may put it on, who knows???

Marge I love the gray background fabric you're using. I also like that you used the same fabric on the Mar block for the stems rather than 2 because I was wondering how it would look and it looks great. Good job.

Patti, that is two different batiks, but the isn't a lot of value difference and the camera didn't pick up the two shades very well. Marge
