    Question on regular machine applique

After you place template printed side down on background fabric, would you not have to sew around each template outline on the stabilizer to know where to fuse the fabric pieces?

Your template should be printed side UP background fabric on unprinted side of template, then stitch just a skosh (smidge) inside of design so that your applique covers those stitches. If you don't want to stitch around all of the designs use a lightbox and draw your designs onto your background fabric then do your applique stitch (satin, blanket or your favorite stitch). If you're looking for a more traditional applique, you could draw your applique designs on to freezer paper and do a turned edge applique. Just my thoughts.

Thanks Nancy. In the meantime I decided to just download the zip file and do Sarah's satin stitch and use her detailed instructions. Worked great on my embroidery machine.
