    Seam Allowances?

    Hi everyone,

I have noticed that this quilt is calling for 1/8 inch seam allowances, in some parts at least, rather than the usual 1/4 inch. This is new to me, and I am wondering what the benefits of the smaller seam allowance would be. In particular, I'm wondering how well the top will hold together with the narrow seam allowances if I wash it to remove the stable stuff before quilting. I'd appreciate all opinions and advice! Thanks very much.

The eighth inch seam allowances results in less bulk in the final result and makes everything go together easier. If you are reducing your stitch length to a MAXIMUM of 1.5, as you always should with paper piecing, you shouldn't have to worry about it coming apart.
