Auditioning Colors and Fabrics for Sedona Star 2012

For those who own Bernina V6 Software or EQ7, or other compatible software, would it be possible to receive the uncolored version of the quilt in a format that can be loaded into the software so that colors and fabrics can be auditioned with greater ease? Also, will there be instructions available for those folks who would like to experiment with the cutwork tool for applique, as an alternative to to Go! (or scissors)?

Sedona Star 2012 is irresistible! Thank you, TQS, for inviting Sarah Vedeler to offer this gorgeous quilt as a BOM, and Sarah, for producing such a gem!

Thanks for asking this question as I also would love to use the EQ7 for fabrics

      Thanks for asking the question!

There will be a PDF containing the uncolored version included with the month 1 instructions. Now this is only a letter sized page (8" x8" pic of the quilt), and you have to color it by hand!

I can provide a CorelDraw version of it. Anyone who owns the Bernina V6 software (or a full blown version of Corel Draw) will then be able to color it electronically.

I did try to get this design into EQ and it basically didn't work! I got up to about month 4 or 5 and EQ refused to save the file. Not terribly happy with this as EQ is a much easier tool to use when it comes to coloring and doing color swapping. If there is anyone out there who is an EQ expert and would like to try it for me, I'd be happy to hand over the artwork!!!

      Hope this helps!

Sarah, thank you for the quick reply. I do not own EQ7, but I do have the Bernina V6 software and would love to receive the CorelDraw version of the quilt so that I can play with color before making fabric purchases.

I also plan to play with the cutwork tool to see if I can produce the applique pieces and if you have any hints for those of us who own the Bernina 830 and would like to use the jumbo hoop, they are always welcome!

I've noticed that EQ7 chokes on large complex files. Right in the middle of a step it suddenly closes or freezes. It might be possible to take the jpeg file into photoshop and color it there.

I, too, will be looking for the pdf version to use in the Bernina software. Thank you so much for all your work on this!

Thanks! This is exciting. I just bought a Bernina 830 and I also have the software and CorelDraw, so I should be able to get it put together with my own colorway. Can't quite stretch for the Go! right now though since I'm still reeling from purchasing the 830 and a cabinet for it as a retirement present to myself. LOL. But I really am happy with this BOM---thanks again!

So it looks like I will provide an uncolored PDF file that can be printed and colored by hand, a CorelDraw X4 version with a colored page (with the Fizz colors on it) and an uncolored page (so you can start coloring from scratch), and a JPG which can be worked on in Photoshop!

                Sarah :-)

before the instructions were even released, I traced over the first photo of the BOM in Flash, an animation program I am proficient in. I could provide a .fla of the outline if anyone else works in Flash(CS3 or4).
I'm gonna do the BOM with a black background. so stoked!!

Sarah your wonderful! Thank-you for being so accommodating. I'm disappointed that EQ7 didn't work. I'm very excited to start!

Thanks to Sarah and Annis, I am now starting to audition colors in PhotoShop Elements! I just recently got this program and don't really know how to use it yet, but Annis' instructions in the printing the outline topic helped me figure out how to load in Sarah's PDF file, enhance the color of the outlines and begin applying colors to the pieces. This is so wonderful! I had already spent hours just coloring a few pieces with colored pencils so I'm very happy to be able to point and click instead!!

You are all such wonderful helps!!

this is a JPG of the image I made in Flash. it's not 100% accurate to the pattern, just a close-enough approximation I made from the first photos released. what do you think of the black background?
