Ritzy, how are you doing on yours? Last I saw you had posted a new center to go with your border.

I haven't seen much chatter about the BOM, probably everyone is either doing the HST's or just making baskets!

Kathy, there have been a few pictures posted on the Show & Tell link: see-quilts/show-and-tell-quilts/

The next few months are going to be more of the same! LOTS of baskets and pieced swag units to get us through the summer and fall!

Right now I am trying to come up with a border that has snowflakes instead of baskets. We shall see what happens with that.

Nice, Ritzy! There are so many possibilities, from Paula Nadelstern style kaleidoscopes to papercut applique. Can't wait to see what you have come up with, when you get there.

Snowflakes sound like fun. I know what I'm going to do with my next border but haven't had time to work on it yet. Too many other things have to be done first.

Well, finally here is my March "swag" border. I'm really pleased with it and it lays flat and smooth. (My design wall is a closet door so the pelon waves.) It seems like I've been foundation piecing for a hundred years, but it's only been 2 months. In between this I made a couple other quilts, as well as the "error" borders I wrote about in my blog.

Holey Moley, Geneva! This is a very inventive border and it goes wonderfully well with the rest of the quilt. I can imagine that it took 2 months to do, that's a lot of foundation piecing!

                          Geneva,
Your quilt is beautiful! All that paper piecing was worth the final product. Congrats!!

I bet everyone forgot I was making this year's BOM, huh.

I was blessed with two precious days off this weekend of my paid job and I took full advantage of it and sewed my heart out. I nearly finished my HST project and when I couldn't go any further on it, I turned my efforts toward month three of the BOM.

Unfortunately, I had to take the picture in my narrow hallway and then step into a bedroom in order to get a photo so it's kind of a side pic, but hopefully you can see well enough. I've included some close ups as well. Now that I have the holly leaves and berries placed, I can start sewing them on and then on to Month 4!

I'm hoping the rest of the quilt will go much faster now that I don't have to recreate as much. I'm going to keep the baskets, but will be changing the corner blocks for the baskets and the other outside border. But, I already have the designs in my head and now just need to draw them out. I'm bursting to start on the next borders but need to enjoy appliquing everything down on MO3 now.

Thank you Margo. When Tracy gets home tonight, I am going to ask him to hold it up so I can get a forward facing picture of the whole piece. From looking at the picture now, I can see the right side really blurred out and I lost the clarity of the center block.

I really enjoy working on it though and it has become a very spiritual experience for me because each time I work on it, I mediate on God and all of the blessings. I would have made a Christmas quilt long ago had I known how much I would be encouraged by it. The baskets will be a perfect compliment because of the bounty God provides. Now I just need another couple of free days to sew!
