    Problems with lattice border

I didn't check my paper piecing to be sure it measured 2-1/2" and, yep, I made all 112 of them!! They measured a smidgen over 2-1/4". I was not going to redo them so I removed the borders from the center that I had on from Month 1. Put a small border on to make it measure what my lattice border measured. I sewed the lattice border on and added a small border to the outside of it. Now I will wait until next month to see what the next border is to decide what to do. My center now measures 31" and it needs to be 32-1/2" so I will correct that next month before adding the applique border. I was going to add pictures but can't seem to get it to work.

Joyce, I hope you don't mind, but I've captured your photos from MQR.

        Joyce,

I'm so sorry that your blocks were off, but I love what you did to fix it. Maybe you can just make next month's border wider?

          Joyce,
It's lovely. No one would ever know you had a problem.

Joyce It's looks lovely and no one would know you had a problem, and I think what you have done to fix your problem makes you a better quilter in the end, although on the day it may not have felt like that.....he he he

I, also, had 2 1/4 inch when my lattice was done. I know the printer was set right because I checked. So, I was more than half way through when I found there was a problem. I continued making them and tomorrow I will see what adjustments need to be made. It looks like they will fit my center square but I won't be able to put a floater between the lattice and the center. I am fine with that since I couldn't decide what fabric I wanted to use there anyway.

Thanks, Margo, for posting the pictures. I couldn't get the images to come up on my post.

Ritzy, what about some piping between the two pieces?

Joyce and Ritzy, you both had greaat "fix" ideas. I really appreciate it when people post their problems and fixes. Sometimes I just panic and all my creativity goes out the door. You all keep me in the game. Thanks!

Well, my problem just got bigger. I guess the real problem is I am a perfectionist. I sewed my lattice borders on (they fit) and saw that the lines in my fabric were not straight. It is really obvious and I am not willing to let it go. The fabric I used and really, really liked, I don't have enough of to make the corners over. I haven't, yet, been able to find it online. :x

Can we see a picture? Maybe you can use a quilting pattern that will camouflage the crooked lines. But if you're truly not happy with it it's sometimes best to start over instead of liking it less and less as you proceed.

Took it all apart. Now the search for fabric.
