My original idea for this BOM was to make a miniature using my 2009 BOM fabrics. Then when I decided to do the Christmas one instead I was going to abandon this one. But I found this Wind Blown Rose design in EQ7 and I just had to make it. I changed the design slightly to make it work "easier" as a miniature and added the hearts to the background because it just needed them. I used the heart at the top of Sue's design decreased by 50%. The applique was done 2 weeks ago but then I got side tracked with all of those half-square triangles which had to be finished first because I was getting more than my maximum of 3 projects at a time. I added the piping and setting triangles today. It finishes at 5 1/4". It was supposed to be 5" but I didn't allow room for the piping so had to add 1/4". I used Wash-Away Applique and it worked okay. Of course I didn't have anything to compare it to since this was my first miniature applique. For the circle I also used Stable Stuff because it needed to be stiffer. I'm glad there was only one circle. It measures a little less than 3/8". The applique was sewn by hand and I often had to use a stab stitch where the layers overlapped. I soaked all of the glue out of the applique before adding the setting triangles. I used a lot of glue so it took a lot of soaking. The first time it came out stiff. So I added a little detergent to the water and let it soak for awhile. It's now as soft as it can be considering all of the tiny pieces with the turned under edges that sometimes overlap. Now I'm ready for the next border but it will have to wait until later in the month. I'm doing the Christmas one first.

You ladies are so-o-o-o-o funny!!! Laughter is good for the soul!!!

Annis, your block is beautiful! I know about those 3/8" circles. I made 6 perfect ones, only to find out they were too small for my 5 petals to go under. It was either make 30 petals narrower at the attachment point, or only make 6 new center circles. I'm lazy! I went for the center 6 circles!
