Eileen, Sharon Schamber uses her applique fouundation product for needleturn applique, and I think it's the same stuff as Ricky's Stable Stuff.

My tutorial for machine applique with Stable Stuff is located in the Classrooms link: http://www.thequiltshow.com/os/lessons. ... es_id/1017

Originally posted by ladyquilterEileen, I used stable stuff and appliqued the block I made for Margo by hand. It was a little tougher simply because the applique was stiffer and didn't bend as well as I was working on it but not unduly so. After I washed the block it was perfect and I loved the effect of using it.
And it's GORGEOUS!

Eileen,
I'm using Ricky's Stable Stuff, and hand appliqueing. As long as I keep my glue off of the very edge where my needle will be going through, it is a piece of cake! In places where I wasn't as careful, it is still doable, but you have to push harder on the needle. Or just wet it a little. I did a tiny sample piece, washed it, and like Jo Jo said, the effect it gives is great!

Ritzy, your block in wonderful and I think nobody else than you see "your thing". In cases like this I take a photo and print it out on ordinary paper, so I can draw my solutions or glue something on or whatever. That's a good way to try things without ruining the block.

OK, so here is what I did. I unsewed a couple of inches on each side of the top-center of the heart and then resewed them at the place they should have fallen. Then I added an extra leaf and three berries and I think I can live with it. I am still considering mistletoe but for right now I will live with it for a while. In the mean time I am working on the second block I am doing--it is also Christmas but I think it will just be a wall hanging size.
