I have a question about the center applique....I am wondering about the width of the stem.....is it about 1/4 inch?

    Thank you!

Yes mam! About 1/4", but it's not separate stems. Sue has designed the stem element to be one piece of fabric that is appliquéd onto the background:
Here is my Stable Stuff foundation glued onto the back of the stem fabric. It will be trimmed and the edges glued to the back of the foundation before it gets appliquéd to the background.

Since I love to do freezer paper, needle-turn, applique, your picture gives me a much better idea of what I will be doing. Thank you again Margo.

JoJo, it's wonderful!! Can't wait to see the whole block! The colors are wonderful! And what fun background fabric! I spent some time working on my partridge design this morning (almost ready to show, but not quite), but I was really stealing time from work, so I hafta be a good girl the rest of today, sigh ...

JoJo, I love it! I love the way you did the leaves.

It looks great JoJo! I have my smaller version designed and the fabrics ironed and ready to go. I found a few striped fabrics and a Christmas white on white so I will only have to use one fabric for the background and won't have to figure the yardage since I purchased plenty. Now it's time to do other things. Too bad work keeps getting in the way of our creativity.

Thanks for all the nice words on the holly leaves. It's been great fun working on this big block. I'm using freezer paper to unit applique (Jane Townswick's technique) the entire leaf, and once it is done I use Sharon's version of Ricky's stable stuff. I would have used Ricky's but I already own quite a bit of Sharon's so I'm using up my stash first. I must admit that getting good points has been a struggle because of all the seams either at or close to the point of the leaf. So thanks for the compliment on the points.

I love striped fabrics and can't wait to see your design. I started wondering whether you might tilt the little blocks in your design??? Can't wait to see what you've designed.

Tilt the blocks. Hmmm! Right now they are a square in a square in a square, although some of them start as rectangles. Maybe I need to play a little more in EQ7. Thanks for the idea.
