    2011 BOM KITS

when will the 2011 bom kIts be available to purchase. This year I have done the 2 BOMS with what was in my stash but I really like Beloved Beauties. I live in Australia and do not want ot be heldup too long waiting for the fabric to arrive.

I know how anxious some people are to get the kits and start on Ruffled Roses, but the kits may not be available at the first of the year because the fabric is so new that not much of it has even been produced yet! John and Justin are working on it and the kits will be assembled as soon as they get the fabrics from P&B. I can tell you that despite the disappointment of having to wait, you are going to LOVE this fabric. The colors are GORGEOUS and the fabric feels WONDERFUL! Please be patient, and don't give up on the kits. They will be worth the wait!

In the meantime....the first month will be the appliquéd center. If you are planning to try my machine appliqué method with Ricky Tims' Stable Stuff, you will be able to prepare your Stable Stuff foundations when the pattern is made available on January 1st, then when you get the fabrics you will be ready to pre-wash them and get started on turning the edges.

If you are planning on fusing the appliqué, you can prepare the fusible product of your choice.

If you are planning to do needle-turn appliqué, you can prepare your templates.

It will be worth the wait!

The appliquéd center block gets trimmed to 15-1/2" x 15-1/2" (unfinished size) before the setting triangles are attached.

Rondie, I'll be doing the same technique that I show in my Webshots album for the Hugs & Kisses 2010 Appliquéd BOM. The directions I provide for Ruffled Roses will have photos using the Ruffled Roses templates and will be posted on TQS in addition to Sue's needle-turn technique.

Here's a link to the Hugs & Kisses tutorial: http://home-and-garden.webshots.com/...76127612MrslzR

Margo all your quilts are absolutely stunning in your webshots, thanks for taking the time to also post your tutorials always willing to learn...

As for the fabric you are right it does look gorgeous. It is like when you start a BOM in the store you always have to wait for the fabric to come before you can start..

Okay, I am getting frustrated here.
After seeing Margo's beautiful Beloved Beauties quilt online, I was really excited about doing one like hers, but the kits are not in yet. It is February 10th.
I have never done a BOM before. I particularly wanted to do this quilt because I thought it would be a great opportunity to learn needle-turn applique - which will take more time. I already know how to do machine applique, so I do not want to do machine applique on this one. Been there, done that.
But by the time I get the kit, get the fabric washed and ironed and get started, it could realistically be March before getting started, and I will be so far behind. I am 65 years old and work long hours at a managerial job. I am getting so frustrated about the delay that I am seriously considering giving up on doing this BOM.

Judy, please don't give up. You will so love making this quilt. I'm sure they are working as quickly as possible to get the kits out. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if there wasn't an announcement soon.
