    printed applique pattern

My applique patterns were printed at 6 1/2" (the square around the pattern). Does it mean that they are the wrong size? Thank you for your time.

That will make the applique shapes slightly smaller than if the box was exactly 6.75"--not really a problem since the applique shapes are fairly simple. You might try increasing the print size setting to 104%--if that's an option on your printer. That ought to get you to 6.75". Please let us know if this works for you.

      Hi.

      Some Printing Tips.

      1) VERY IMPORTANT: Make sure you are printing ACTUAL SIZE. Not fit to page. This is a selection are on your printer page as you get ready to print on the computer. My pattern printed out at exactly 6 3/4.

      2) Page 1 and 2 are landscape. Select page range 1-2, landscape and print.

      3) Then for pages for the rest, Select page range 3-15, portrait and print.

      Cheers, Judy

Judy, thanks for these kinds of tips. Printing problems seem to be the only thing that trip people up with Block of the Month patterns. Once we all learn what works with our printers, we are usually good for the year.

        Thanks!

Another tip that may help some people. Download the PDF file to your computer, then open it before printing. If you try to print from a PDF that opens from the web, the sizes are usually not accurate.

Thank you everyone. It worked when I remove the fit the page setting. This is a new printer. Normally, I see the 1" square on the side to make sure it is printed correctly, since this one didn't have one and the pieced blocks have to be trimmed to correct size; I decided to check here first before reprinting it to fit the correct size. Thanks again

I'm glad other people seem to have solved their computer problems. I have tried two different computer/printer set-ups and the closest I come is 6 1/2" square. This is very frustrating to me! I haven't had this problem printing previous BOM's.

Laura, did you follow Diane's advice to download the pattern to your computer, then open it there before printing, being sure "fit to page" is not selected. Those tips help most people. The patterns are correct as posted on the site so the problem is in the settings you are using. Once you get it correct, you'll want to remember how you got the 6.75" size so you can replicate it each month.

The best advice is to download first to a computer then print. I made the whole Sizzle by printing from my Ipad to the printer and my blocks are 19 inches instead of 20. I've made them work but I'm not going to make the same mistake this year!
