    FABRIC SELECTION--SHOW AND TELL

Show us your fabric plan for Afternoon Delight right here.

A detailed blog post is coming December 4, 2019 with all the details you need to prepare for the release of Afternoon Delight January 1, 2020. The link to that blog will be posted here that day.

My monthly samples will be made from these Red, White and Blue fabrics

And, just like you, I have no idea why this photo is upside down--it started out right side up. But you get the idea.

So... yesterday was Small Business Saturday, and I always support my LQS on that day. My husband doesn't even blink when I get up early on that Saturday and head to town. I really wanted to get the neutrals that the BOM requires and I _never_ have in my stash. So I looked at the description for the kids very carefully. The photo shows about half colors and half neutrals. And it says there are 23 yards in the kit, and then another 5 yards for the border. So I"m figuring I"ll need at least half of the 23 yards in neutrals. I looked around through the Christmas fabric and the beach fabric and found neutrals that seemed like they would play well together. All were 40% off, and I got 2 yards of each, 16 yards in all. My LQS is Inspire Quilting in Plant City, FL. They're great people and I feel like I got a good start on what I"ll need. I'm looking forward to Dec 4 and seeing how close I came. This should last me until the next sale anyway. The colors are about 1/3 of the stash I'm prepping to go with it. I've won fat quarters from Row by Row for the past 3 years at different quilt shops, so I'm looking forward to using a bunch of them.

I will be using Kim Diehl fabrics for Afternoon Delight. Sage and Sea Glass collection with some Blush from Blush and Blue . Neutrals are from stash. Looking forward to getting started and keeping pace! In the meantime, Sizzle is calling, and I still

need to finish border appliqué from Patchwork Barn! So many projects, so little time...

Evelyn has selected this lovely stash of fat quarters she has been collecting for a long time. She also has felted wool from old garments for the applique' shapes. And a bunch of backgrounds she has collected. Looks good to me.

I think using wool for the applique is a great idea! I'll have to check my wool stash to see if I have enough.

Hi, everyone. Having a big stash as well! I can't make some photos right now, unfortunately. When I needed different kinds of quality fabrics, I bought most of it from https://tissura.com/ I like crafting so I still make some cute stuff out of it. I sell most of the stuff I make!

Tissura is definitely a luxury and exclusive fabric site - fun to look through and very pricey...

I'm so excited to start this BOM. I decided to use batiks for the blocks and creamy for the backgrounds.

What a great selection of batiks. They will just POP on that creamy background. HelenW

I have decided on my fabrics. I am using a Grunge grey for my background, and then some Hoffman Digital prints Details in 10 different colors. The Hoffman fabric is a set of 8 FQs with a different design on each FQ sold as a "panel". That gives me more than enough fabric for what is recommended for the quilt, although not the blenders or solids as shown in the requirements. I'm still debating if I want to purchase some blender fabric, although Hoffman doesn't sell any that coordinates with this collection, so I may just stick with what I have, since it is more than enough total for the quilt. I do think the some of the prints will work for the applique, so I may not even need the blenders. I had to order some of the colors online as the store I bought them from didn't have all the colors, so I have to wait for them to be delivered. At least I can start cutting my background fabric, while I'm waiting for those, before I start deciding what fabric I want to use for the applique. I'm looking forward to working on this quilt as it will be my first quilt using applique.

Would love to see a picture of your fabrics when the ones you ordered arrived. I love Grey, and I love the Grunge fabrics. Hoffman Digitals are gorgeous.

I'm not sure if I will have the time to do this and I don't know what colours I should do but I thought I would try one. I think for me it is too tedious but the heat and bond worked. Not sure if that's the way I want.
