Page 3 of the Block 1 Fabric Cutting instructions tells you which fabrics to use for the Block Corners.

Hollyminer I like your choice of fabrics too. You have strong contrast in your corner fabrics, it will be interesting to see that develop as more blocks are added.

Block 1 done! Using my stash except for the background. Following the “cool” instructions. Sew happy Becky is doing the BOM this year. I love this quilt!

I plan on making one quilt, but combining both warm and cool blocks in a four by four format, so I will have some duplications. Rotating some is brilliant, to make them look just a little different in my quilt. Thank you for the idea! Just got my foundations, but still need to prewash my fabric.

I needed some stress relief so decided to try piecing this block without paper. I would show you how I did it but it would take too much time and you probably don't want to know. I won't be making the quilt but might make another block or two. I started a new challenge project this year using a fabric panel and a block of the month and this block may work with it. If not it can be saved for something else. I haven't had a lot of time to sew for the past 6 months as we finally did our final move to our country home after commuting back and forth for 5 years. Still lots of stuff to sort and this is a busy month for other things.

Wow Annis. I am in awe of your piecing skills. SEW perfect! Is this the full 20" block? You made me laugh with your "stress relief" comment. What do you do for fun!? :-)

Yes, this is the full size block. I cut a 17-1/2" circle out of a 21" square for the background. As for stress relief, when you do something you enjoy that takes complete concentration you forget for awhile all of the other things you should be doing instead. When I was told we had a month to get out of our city home, I pulled out a 1000 piece puzzle in the shape of a leaf. We ended up getting 2 months but it took the whole time with lots of helpers. My husband really liked this block. He said those were his colors.

I tried two different version of the first block. Not really warm or cool! As you can see, I am experimenting with color. I usually work improvisationally. I rarely do patchwork and thought I needed some skill building with perfecting points, etc. This is quite an adventure. I'm not sure about my color palette yet but having fun experimenting outside my comfort zone.
