    Month 12 The Patchwork Barn

We've made it to the end of this year-long journey. If you are almost finished, congratulations. If you are still on the path, be sure you save and/or print all 12 months of instructions. Once December 31, 2018 arrives, all the patterns and instructions will be removed from this site. The pattern will then be available for purchase directly from the designer, Edyta Sitar.

I hope you have enjoyed this project and learned a few things from it:

How did Edyta Sitar have her "The Patchwork Barn" quilted? It says it was custom quilted on a longarm and from the pictures it appears to be done with a feather edge to edge pattern. Any other ideas on how to quilt this quilt? Alice

Alice, here is a link to my Month 2 blog that shows a photo of Edyta with her quilt--you can see the quilting better in it than the full photo.

Yes, it appears to be Feathers, edge to edge. I think that is a good choice. But a lot of people won't want edge to edge over the appliques. To avoid that would require custom quilting, increasing the cost somewhat.

I didn't put any applique' in my quilt so I might do a simple overall free-motion quilting design--I quilt on a Bernina Q20 sit down longarm. The other option for me is to stitch in the ditch along all the sashing seams, then quilt a simple design on top of each pieced block, with some fancy work in the center.

Each person can put their own touch on their quilt with this last design decision. I hope we will see some photos of finished quilts in the coming months.
