The Crystal Farms kit says it has 13.75 yards of at least 25 fabrics. I suggest you look at the fabric list in the Intro for the Blue Sky fabrics, which lists specific amounts of each. Make a list of how many light, medium, dark, light-medium, medium-dark, etc. there are and shop with that in mind.

I do not expect to see a published list of exactly which Crystal Farms fabrics to use in each block as I don't think anyone has yet made the quilt with those fabrics. It is simply an alternate colorway for those who prefer that palette.

Oh Barbara, I hope you are wrong in suggested fabric colors for the blocks. That will be hard to decide on when the kit arrives.

When clicking on the second colorway photo on the TQS home page (at extreme right side), you will see a 2 page pop-up. Page one is a pic of the quilt in the second colorway, page 2 is a stack of fabrics which i would assume will be the kit- or something similar.

As I understand from the comments here, we don't expect to get a Fabric Sheet with the 2nd Colorway, like that provided with the Blues? See the attachment to see what I'm talking about. If we don't get this, each person will need to sort the fabric and do a fabric reference sheet individually. Seems pretty inefficient to have everyone do the same job
when one person could do the job for all. They're obviously going to have to do some kind of pre-sorting/decision-making to cut the correct amount of fabric. Right? Am I missing something?

For scrappy type kits I never use the fabric sheets. I choose different fabric combos for the blocks and make it my own. Since each block is made 3 times I plan on using different combinations in each block. I just plan on sorting fabrics in light, medium and dark piles and pull combos from that. I will also use each fabric once before using it again unless there is one I really love and then will use it more. Hope that makes sense.

Teresa B is right on target. Those using the Crystal Farms kit to create their Patchwork Barn quilt will be making their own creative decisions for each block. The sketch we have is not a photo--it is a mock up of the different colorway presented by Crystal Farms--it is not a copy of those fabrics. No one has made the Patchwork Barn yet in those fabrics--you who get the kit will be the first.

As Teresa suggested, simply sort your fabrics into light, medium and dark groups and use the basic block instructions to decide which fabrics to use in each position--each person's quilt will be unique. We have a Show and Tell topic for The Patchwork Barn--it will be great to see how people interpret their blocks--be sure to post your photos.

The Crystal Farms kits are expected to ship mid-March. I hope to know very soon what kind of list will be packed with the kit--just as soon as I get that information, I will share it here.

Two of the women in the Sunday Sew and Sews class I am teaching have ordered the Crystal Farms kit. I will include their fabric choices on the first of the month Blog I write for this Block of the Month, starting April 1 when they should have blocks to show. If you haven't looked at the blog, I encourage you to do that.

What? You mean the fabric will not match the pic that we based our purchase decision on?

EDIT: I just spoke with TQS and Barbara is correct in that the picture is not a true representation of the fabrics; however, I'm told that they are better than the picture. I was told to go to the shop and to look at the new uploaded a picture of the actual fabrics. They look beautiful so I feel much better. I was concerned that the fabrics would be drastically different from what I fell in love with.

You will be happy to know the kit will include a fabric list in the same format as the Blue Sky kit, photos and the amount included of each fabric in the kit. This will assist you as you design your blocks.

Crystal Farms blocks by one of the Sunday Sew and Sews. Terri is still waiting for her kit but bought a Layer Cake so she could make some blocks. Here are her blocks from Month 1.

Thank you Barbara, with these 3 blocks, it give more precision about the color of the fabrics.
