Decorative stitching on borders

I've been waiting since this quilt 1st debuted to see how Janet did the decorative green stitches on the border. There is no mention of them in the pattern or instructions. What gives? :?:

It looks like a decorative satin satin stitch to me.

When I talked with Janet at MQX she said she did the satin stitching after the quilt was done. The stitching is through all layers. She said she thought the quilt needed something more on the border when she looked at her finished quilt.
She stitched over some appliqués and others she stopped and started before and after.

Guess we can do ours before the quilt is quilted, but after the borders are done. I am just going to try to copy her placement if we don't get any guide lines.
