Hi Dawn! I really like your color selection and I just wouldn't have though of using the feather/teardrop shape for "splats"/

    Great job!

Dawn, In the modern vernacular . . . OMG. Splat is gorgeous. I can't wait to have a sewing room back so I can work on my paper piecing skills. I think I am going to come to the Houston Quilt Festival with a blank drawing of my sewing room so I can really get a good design laid out and then buy all my new furniture while I'm there (actually that's DH's idea  ).

Well Brenda, if anyone deserves new sewing room furniture, you do! But, I'll tell you right now, even a foot of water on the floor will ruin most sewing furniture. I had a leaky humidifier ruin one of my sewing table tops. Too warped to even close it up anymore. Shop wisely! Plastic is good! And, let's make sure to find time to say "Hi!" while we are both there!

Glad you like SPLAT! everyone! Thanks for your kind words for it! I hope to see it again soon. Hate to bug the longarmer, though!

I'm considering getting an accuquilt go! but can't find any information on how long the dies last. My next quilt is a postage stamp so will have over 8000 squares (from small scraps not yardage). Will I be able to cut them all without replacing the die (if I'm responsible and use it as they say) or does the die wear out quickly? It is an expensive purchase but probably worth it if I don't need to buy lots of replacement dies...

          Thanks in advance,
          Katherine

I have an Accuquilt go but haven't used the dies enough to wear them out. Maybe email Accuquilt? They are helpful there.

I have used my dies for years and have not had one wear out yet,. Have worn out a few cutting mats. Not used squares but I love using HSTs

I purchased my AccuQuilt GO! cutter about 5 or 6 years ago. And, I LOVE it! I have never worn out a die, but have only cut 100s of a shape, not thousands. Today is the day to buy the cutter! They are $150 off!!! I have the GO! (Not GO! Baby) and they are usually $300. I got an email today saying they were on sale for $150. This does NOT happen very often! I think AccuQuilt offers free shipping, and your local dealer must honor the sale prices.

As someone else stated, you will have to replace your mat now and then. Supposedly the newer mats will last longer. Just don’t keep cutting your square in the same spot on the mat! I have even cut my mats in half so the cutter doesn’t cut on a portion of the mat that I am not using. You will understand that statement once you start running a die through your cutter.

Also, I cut 4 or 5 layers at a time, and I think AccuQuilt suggests 3 or 4. So, I push the limit. I don’t think that effects how long a die lasts, but more how long the cutter lasts. And, as I said, I have had mine for at least 5 years. Good luck and have fun!
