Question about stumpwork on a show quilt

Hi everybody. I am making a couple of quilts on which I am placing wired edge 3 dimensional insects or birds. I am wondering if anyone of you out there has ever done this and if so, have you ever shipped such a quilt, or entered a show with one, or judged one? I want to enter one of these into the show circuit if it turns out, but I'm unsure how the stumpwork with wire in the wings to make them have dimension would fare in a show or shipping. Any ideas on how this might be accommodated? This picture is before I attached it to my quilt and I did some substantial embroidery work hiding the wires under the body of the dragonfly and making a firm connection to the wings to the body. It looks really cool, but I don't have a pic of that yet.

    Betty Jo,
Check Martina Celerin's blog. Then send her the question. I'll bet she can give you some good direction on this.
    All the best to you,
    Luann
