    My Dream Vacation!

We are planning a dream vacation to Bali & New Zealand for 3 weeks in January 2017, I'M SO EXCITED!! Does anyone out there have any suggestions of cool quilt shop, or anything fun to do? We will spend 1 week in Bali & 2 weeks in New Zealand. We will be renting a camper in New Zealand, so we are not too restricted and plan on driving through the north as well as the south island.

We loved New Zealand. In the north they have some wonderful wineries. In January it will be hot in the north and cool and rainy in the south. The south is so beautiful. Forests, rivers, lakes. I didn't find any quilting shops, but I was on a tour. I suspect fabric shops will be mostly in Auckland.

You will have such a great time! geneva

[hide]Our daughter has been in New Zealand since the new year and I mentioned that fabric is light and easy to transport in her bags ! :silly: https://www.google.ca/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=new%20zealand%20quilt%20shops&rflfq=1&rlha=0&r llag=-40551531,171815309,548325&tbm=lcl&tbs=lf:1,lf_ui:2 &rlfi=hd:;si: Here is a link to a map of NZ quilt shops. I looked up Agrodome and Maori Cultural Center in Rotorua, that looks like a pretty amazing place to go too! As far as the north island being hot, we might actually enjoy the warmer weather, we live in southern Arizona, but it can get pretty cold here in the winter.
Thank you for the link to the quilt shops djane, how lucky your daughter has been to have living there since the 1st of the year! My sister-in-law used to live there in the early 80's and she would send me books of how beautiful it is there, what a bonus to have so many quilt shops too!!

Yoshiko Jinzenji has a studio in Bali, called Studio Jinzenji Grass House. Here is her webpage: http://www.yoshikoquilt.com/. She divides her time between Bali and Kyoto, Japan, so I'm not sure whether she's open to the public but may be worth an inquiry.

A friend visiting New Zealand gifted me very nice batiks from this shop: 'A Patch of Country', located in Kailkoura (about 1 1/2 hours north of Christchurch). www.apatchofcountry.co.nz (Shop not listed on the NZ Quilt map).

                Barb :-)
