Thank you everyone for sharing, I am hoping to redo my sewing room this spring so this really helps. Had been thinking about pale yellow, have done that in the past. Will look at some whites. I do have good natural light during the day but always trying different light bulbs since I am usually in there in the evening! Pat

      Hi,

I painted my sewing room with peach color. It looks pretty and makes the room very light.

My sewing/guest room walls are yellow with white ceiling. The yellow walls/white ceiling plus good lighting works for me.

Thanks for sharing, Emma. Yellow is a happy color. Should make for happy quilting! I am glad you have a space for creativity!

My studio has creamy white walls. I would worry that walls with color might influence the way the colors look when I'm working with them, though perhaps a soft enough color would be ok.

I realize everyone that was going to paint may have already done so. But I thought I'd pop in on this topic. When we moved here two years ago, every room had been repainted with a very fine mist of blued white! It was most depressing and within 2 months I was looking for some help to get it cheerier! I had painted my frog with 'wood lily' and this time I had it mixed at a different big box than twice before, I got a touch too much yellow. They could have used an incorrect base but once I started painting, there was no turning back. This went into the room over the garage called a FROG in these here parts of the country. One northeast facing window and several cubby holes in this room needed some sunshine I guess. The problem came in when I got to the top of the 16 foot wall where it met the angled back at me ceiling. I could not get sufficient coverage. It kept looking like blue was showing through. Three coats of paint, and I do buy quality because I don't want to do this much work!! Anyway, the rest of the walls throughout the house have gotten, or will eventually get, painted. By much younger and more agile people! The color I used on the rest of the house has been China Doll. It is a taupe, but doesn't seem to change color on each wall due to lighting. It doesn't go mauve, or pink, it just stays neutral. It has been awesome.
In my sewing room, I still need to paint. But I purchased 2 sheets of insulation 4x8 feet. They cut them into 4'x4' sections so I can get them into my vehicle. I used command strip refills to attach them to the walls. Then one has a piece of warm and natural batting on it, one has black felt, and two pieces are side by side and I used a grey on them. This way I can try out different possible borders and not be thrown off by the color behind what I'm working with. If I think I've decided on something, I can move it to another color and check it out.
I don't have a lot of space so I take pictures with a digital in black and white or grey tones. That's probably the most helpful thing I've started doing.
I love color and most importantly your sewing space needs to be a place where you enjoy being.

Man, I'm in a chatty mode again!
And a picture of how I solved the top of the wall problem

I also wanted to decorate the bedroom in this style, but changed my mind when I realized that the overall style is slightly different. I chose prints on canvas abstract world map It looks modern, besides, you can also order everything for every taste. So it really suited me
