So, what favorite shows would you recommend to a newbie???

Okay, a very kind TQS member has gifted me with a certificate to buy some past episodes! Yay!! Many thanks to her

Now I need help figuring out which ones!!! I have Series 7, 8 and 9 on DVD thanks to a forum friend who mailed me hers that she was done with, so I can rule those out. And I've been suggested the Jackie Gering episode (1202), to learn/see straight line quilting, so that is #1 on the list.

    What else???

I'm pretty new to this, only have had my machine since August 2012. I have a somewhat modern bent, but not completely modern the way the new modern quilting craze is going. I shy away from applique.....I think I'd like shows that focus on basics, especially quilting rather than piecing. Well, both, but.....

So, ladies, let me hear your ideas! Which shows should I get??? Let's say, top 10 or so shows.

Well, other members came out of the woodwork and blessed me beyond belief. I now have a 6 month star membership so can watch current shows, a past series gift certificate which bought me series 11, a scan of the list shows me that I have actually 4 series on DVD from a friend, yay! (I have these already, just forgot it went all the way back to series 7), and someone else snuck in a gift certificate for 3 free shows (or maybe that came from TQS?) so I got the series 12 shows that have been released so far prior to my membership. Well, I got just the Jackie Gering one and then 1008 and 509 which seemed like good ones as I read through the listing of shows; Margo set me up with the link for where to read all about them.

Wow. What a treasure trove this place is; you guys really know how to make a girl feel loved! And the shows will be hugely valuable. Thank you everybody!!!

That's fantastic. I love all the shows, but I especially liked series 6.

Sounds like you're well covered in the show department,

My suggestion would be to watch Laura Nownes' classes; they're in the classroom section. By making her sampler, you'll follow along step by step how to make a quilt top.

          Hope this helps,
