    Small or Miniature?

Hello Guild! I'm working on a small quilt, about 16 x 16. Started the quilting this morning and got to wondering...Do I call it a small quilt, or a miniature quilt? Is there something specific that makes a quilt a miniature? Its a Rhapsody, by the way. I'll post pics when its done. So far I'm likin' it alot!
    Thanx Y'all!

I think the official line for miniature is 1/12 of the original. Yours will certainly be that. Make sure you show us it

Here are the rules from the Great Northern Quilt Show, UK.

      (f) MINIATURE / DOLL QUILT
Size: all sides must be under 24”. Cannot be entered into the theme category. A true miniature is 1/12 (1:12) scale.

      hope this helps.

I'm not sure that a miniature must be 1/2 scale. The "Oh Wow!" permanent exhibit at the National Quilt Museum in Paducah, KY has lots of quilts that are smaller than that. The exhibit is absolutely amazing!

In order to be called a true miniature, it should have all the components of a large regular sized quilt, reduced to scale, and you should not be able to tell from a photo that the quilt is a little one.

Here are some photos of miniature quilts: https://www.google.com/search?q=oh+w...hp%3B250%3B257

The quilt on the cover of the book only measures 20" x 20" and those are all pineapple blocks!

Just looked at tha book on amazon.co.uk and was amazed to see that the price varied from £11.72 right up to £135.21  that last seller is really 'taking the mickey' with that price  (as well as being unlikely to make a sale  )

Rosemary, if you do get a copy of the book (I suggest the cheaper one!) I think you will be impressed and amazed at the quilts!
They named the exhibit that because everyone who came around the corner and saw them for the first time always said "Oh, Wow!"

            Totally appropriate!
