I sat down yesterday to look at what I wanted to work on this next year. The list is way to long!!!

However first on the list is finishing the binding on my HST exchange quilt and a queen size Summer Lake Log Cabin (Judy Martin pattern). Both are going in our local guild show so they need to be done by Jan 19th. I then have 5 other quilts that just need binding.

After that is my Reels quilt and helping my kids each make a quilt. I also have the BOM from Superior Threads "Celtic Crystals" and the BOM "The Two of Us" I will be working on.

The local Bernina dealer had a great deal on a basic sewing machine, a little "Bernette 46" (i think that is what it was called) and 2 of my girls each got one. They used some money they had earned toward them and are looking forward to using them and taking sewing lessons.

Got my first finish last night:

This was also my last start since I started it on Monday. It's for my sister to thank her for all of the cooking and everything she did for me over Christmas. I LOVE how it turned out. The fabric is Radiance, a silk/cotton blend, that I picked up at my LQS at their year-end 30% off sale. It's all good! The batting is a wool bat on top of a cotton one. It's just 12" square.

That is lovely, Nancy. The feathers almost look as if they started as butterflies at the bottom--nice touch!

The feathers in the center are a stencil that my sister pointed out that she thought was pretty when we were shopping. So I know she likes it, but she has no idea she's getting it. (I'm the sneaky sister. I was also able to buy her a Christmas present while we were shopping together at Kohl's. I carried it around as we shopped for half an hour or so and she never noticed!)

Nancy, that's really nice. How did you quilt the grid? I thought you did this on an embroidery machine.

I drew the grid using a 1/2" stencil, then drew lines in the middle to get a 1/4" grid. Then I just quilted it FMQ on my Bernina. Since the quilt is only 12" square, the lines were short enough to get pretty straight. The spacing between the lines is visibly off in places because I used a thick pen, but it's not too noticeable so you only see it if you look closely.

First on my list is my "Majestic Sedona" (which I'm starting to layer today and hopefully start marking for quilting) so I can enter it in our guilds annual quilt show in March (biting off more than I can chew???) Second will be my HST that I've been searching for quilt patterns since who knows when. Third I have a photo quilt that I want to start of my daughter in a seductive pose. Bought a projector so that I can enlarge and draw out the pattern. Never created an art quilt before, so wish me luck. Hopefully I will be able to get to approx 10 UFO's that have been sitting around for forever. Why oh why do we do this to ourselves, because we love what we do!!!! To all you TQS' have a wonderful New Year.
