Flat Rita has returned from Houston and she had a spectacular time!! I got a picture of her with each of the teachers that she met at this show. I'll give them to you in chronological order. As I have time, I'll put more details about each of the classes on my blog. And I apologize that I didn't get any pictures of Flat Rita with TQS members. I forgot to bring my cable for downloading the pictures from my camera to the laptop and was afraid of running out of space on my card.
Flat Rita, being an over-achiever, signed up for way too many classes, but they were all excellent and she wouldn't have given up a single one of them. She flew out on Sunday and immediately started with an all-day class on Monday. This class was Luminous Feathers with Caryl Bryer Fallert. Here she is with Caryl:
Flat Rita also got to meet Wanda (wandam) in this class. We all shared a table and got to know each other as we worked. She is a very nice and fun lady!!
On Tuesday, we switched gears and started with a Photoshop class with David Taylor. This was David's third time meeting Flat Rita, so he's gotten to know her pretty well:
Flat Rita also got to meet Lynn (quilterlynn) and Carol (cmoellers) in this class. This trip was really showing itself to be a complete TQS experience!!
In the afternoon on Tuesday, we moved on to hand applique. Flat Rita definitely has varied interests! This class was Garden Medley with Karen Kay Buckley:
This was our first class with no TQS friends.... But it was still an excellent class and a lot of fun!!

On Wednesday, we moved on to Sue Nickels' Wholecloth Feathers class. Flat Rita had actually met Sue before at the TQS taping in August, but wasn't able to get a picture at that time. But she got one this time!
Again, an excellent class with an excellent teacher!
On Wednesday night, they had the quilt show preview so we ran downstairs to see Sherry with her award-winning quilt. We've seen this quilt before, but it's still more spectacular with each viewing! And, of course, Sherry is such a wonderful friend! We were so happy for her!!! We had to get a picture with Sherry and her quilt:
And Sherry felt that we should give Flat Rita the seat of honor. I agreed:
We were both very excited!!

You might think it's about time for a break, but breaks are for wimps!! We had to move on, no matter how tired we were! So on Thursday, we took Libby Lehman's Threadplay class. This class covered the things that we also got to learn on TQS, so it was nice to try these things with Libby's help! She really enjoyed Flat Rita:
We got to hang with Shirley (sewlsistah68) and Jo Jo (ladyquilter) in this class.
And Thursday night was the TQS dinner. Debbie already showed us in the Houston Dinner forum what a good time Flat Rita had there!! Hopefully others will post more pictures of Flat Rita from that event since I didn't get any myself. But we sure did have a good time!!
Friday morning we took another class with Caryl Bryer Fallert. This time it was a class in designing quilts with flowing flying geese and other elements (I don't remember the name of the class right now). I didn't ask Caryl for another picture since we'd already gotten on earlier in the week. I didn't want to look like too much of a stalker!
Friday afternoon we actually took "off" to do some shopping and see the show. (Again, more in my blog when I get to that.) But we continued in our quest for knowledge with a Happy Endings class by Phillipa Naylor. She is very high energy and kept us hopping the entire class, but we were still able to get a picture:
We were pretty tired by this point, but it was another wonderful class!
Finally, we spent Saturday with Gyleen Fitzgerald:
This was a class on her "butterfly seams" using her Engaged pattern and the associated tool. This was another fun class and a good way to end our Houston adventure.
Thus ends our Houston adventure. I had hoped to pass Flat Rita along to another caretaker while out there, but my introverted nature was a little overwhelmed by the TQS dinner so I wasn't able to ask around if anyone would like to continue her adventures. So, if anyone here would like to take her around, just let me know and I'll send her off to you! (It's not that I'm not enjoying Flat Rita's company, but this ends my year of quilting adventures so she won't be seeing much excitement with me for a while.)

Wow Nancy, you are one lucky duck going to all those classes. I can't wait to read your blog about it. Thanks for bringing me along, what fun. I am beginning to think that me and David Taylor have a thing going on. 8) I would so love to have been there for real, sigh, maybe someday.

Nancy, Thanks for sharing all your adventures! All I can say is that Nancy & Rita must both be on "creativity overload". Wow! What a lot you had to take in at IQF Houston 2012! I bet you don't know where or what to start first. My guess it's Christmas and the things you had going before you got to Houston. Good luck!

Nancy, I really wish I could have come to Houston this year, but it was not in the cards for me... but you and Flat Rita are giving the best tour d'horizon of this great show and the photos are fantabulous! Thank you for taking the time to share this with us! It IS the NEXT BEST THING to being there!

Well hello Rita. Just saw you on the quilt show. I think I need an alternate flat me so I can go everywhere too. Oh and I would be thinner too.
Was just listening to you on You Tube. Beautiful voice. I think you took Ricky by surprise. Now if they would just bring you to TQS for real.
