I just wanted to update everybody who helped me with information about washing my quilt. After much procrastination about switching the water supply from my automatic to my top loading machine in the end I just decided to try washing it in the automatic. I used about 50ml of synthrapol with a couple of colour catchers and non-biological washing powder at 40º. It came out perfectly without a hint of pink anywhere! I have also tumbled it dry (I have a large tumble dryer) and it is perfect. There isn't a stitch loose anywhere or anything else wrong with it. As for more quilting - well definitely not by hand and maybe someday if I ever get comfortable with the FMQ. Meanwhile it is going back on the marital bed because we are really missing it's warmth right now.

Thanks to everybody who made suggestions and/or made me laugh! Rita.

              Hi Rita -

I'm glad that worked out. It's a beautiful quilt and I'm sure you're excited to have it back on the bed!

Thinking of a comment by Margo in another thread....... Rita, are you popping that quilt into the dryer now every night for 5 minutes before going to be so that you don't need a hotwater bottle??

I'm sure you are all aware that this "toasted quilt" thing is best used on every-day quilts.
Probably not a good idea for any of your Baltimore Album types!!!
