I worked on this quilt in a MYSTERY CLASS by Kay Isbell from Elaine's Quilty Shop in Hadley MI. I worked on it in an all day sew-in. Yesterday and today while the grandson was at an Easter Hunt I worked on it some more. I bought the focus fabrics but I have been pulling the rest of the fabrics from my stash. Every white on white patch is different.
Next sewing session I have to make more puss in the corner blocks. I am then going to switch out the blocks to shake up the colors as I did not have enough of the purpley colors for my Irish Chain. I am going with medium tones of raspberry and purples. I have not decided how I am going to organize my Irish Chain yet.
Every other PUSS IN CORNER block alternate raspberry and light purple / lavender.
Or
Should I have the lavenders all on the top left side fading into the raspberry.
I am very visual so I wont know what I like till I get it on the design wall. I often take pictures of my designs so I can remember the switches and it helps me fine tune the design.

1. BOM- now on March, lots of applique there!
2. Challenge in my mini group- we decided to do patriotic, had to be at least one paper pieced star, I just pinned it and will quilt it in the times when I just can't pick up that milliner's needle. Will be finished by July 4. Here's a photo of it-
3. John Flynn Arabic Lattice kit, bought at Road to California, top is sewn together. Needs to be quilted.
4. Log cabin quilt, top finished 2 to 3 years ago, am stalled on the applique border due to some technical difficulties, like the design is too difficult for my present skills!
Oh yes, pressing HST's in preparation for making a quilt from them.
No wonder I can't sleep at night.
It's all good!

I am making a quilt for my daughter and the BOM too, also have some other projects at differnet stages but the main project at the moment is the wall hanging kit that I bought a few years ago but left until I had a bit more experience. After making the TQS BOM last year and learning so much it gave me the confidence to go ahead. But I do have to admit that it was actually easier than I first thought, its really all small blocks of different sizes that you just sew together, and the fabric is what really makes it also. The hardest part was cutting all the blocks out first, which I did very slowly and labeled them all in sip lock bags........xxxxxx to the inventor of those bags I tell you. I have yet to do the embellishments which are lots of leaves fussy cut and appliquéd all around and over the centre piece and thin black iron on tape on the pebbles to make steps on the bottom left hand corner. As it was the last kit there was not enough fabric in width for the wide pink and white strip pedestal so I had to sew to pieces together but thought when I have it quilted they could do some fancy work over the seam and you wont see it.....well that’s what I am hoping....he he he
I have enjoyed making it so much I thought next year I could make another one but use a totally different floral fabric, I was thinking I could just look at this one and then buy some fabric of the same type e.g. large floral....or small floral etc etc, there are always fantastic floral fabrics in the shops and the ones in groups would work well....if I am making any sense at all.
Ditto Kathy no wonder I cant sleep at night either

I'm well into a number of projects... and expecting to complete 2 of them this week.. maybe 3!
1. A vision wall quilt for my bestie who just turned 40. I had everyone at her party sign the quilt, and just have the border quilting and binding to go. It is awesome, and she was soooo chuffed when she saw the top before everyone signed. I have used criss crossed ribbon to allow her to add her vision pictures to the wall.
2. 2 cushion covers for my DS. He loves bright colours and VW vans, so the cushions are purple, blue, green and orange with VW material in the centre of every block.
3. My mum picked some African Sunset material, and I have 4 applique blocks to match to go... and then the piecing it all together. This is going to be a bed spread for their mobile home for the trip around Australia. 8)
4. My first scrap quilt. I have to find the background fabric. I have finished 20 scrappy blocks and need to turn it into a quilt now.
Well I think that is it on my design wall.. I have commenced deciding my personal quilt.
I think that is plenty for now!!

I am always scattered and working on way too many projects at once. Here are the active projects for now:
1. I'm on month 3 of the BOM. Just started putting the swags together and am really excited with how they are looking. I'm doing a scrappy version so each swag is a different pair of fabrics, but am using a single fabric for the small piping. All of the piping is prepared and I have 5 of the sashes sewn together. I'm really loving it.
2. I finished piecing my first Judy Martin log cabin quilt earlier this year. I'm now in the process of quilting it. (And I'm currently collecting fabrics for 2 more Judy Martin log cabin quilts....)
3. Two friends and I try to have monthly sew days together. For the past two years we've also picked a pattern and each of us has made the quilt in our own style. I just finished piecing my top and will start piecing the backing soon. It's a scrap quilt and I think the back will be pieced of an assortment of the fabrics used for the front.
4. I just finished piecing the main part of a quilt for my nephew's college graduation in May 2012. I'm now ready to put on the borders. I have to start early since I work on so many things at once!
5. Finally, we've just started a mystery quilt with our quilt guild. We just have the first set of instructions, which is picking out the fabrics. I have my main fabric and am picking out the matching fabrics.
Whew! If only my day job didn't get in the way of all of this sewing!!

I took today off and have been doing a little spring cleaning. I am not done, but maybe I can get further next weekend.
I have two quilts going now...one is last year's Hugs and Kisses BOM--I'm on April, and the other is my knight art quilt intended for some contest or other (I'll decide which one(s) after I finish it).
I'm also drawing a couple of art quilts. Then I was so interested in Alex's New York beauty I'm thinking of making a baby quilt size of one for charity somewhere. Do you think babies would like that?
Sigh...I was thinking I would retire this fall but determined it would be better to wait until early next year. But I'm sure I would have to live to 200 or so to make all the quilts I want to even if that's all I ever did.

have spent the entire easter weekend enjoying the sun and sewing - mostly out on my balcony - hand-stuff - easier than lugging the machine out - and driving the neighbors bonkers ...
so, finally got the potholders for the swap done - yeah - will be mailed to the uk tomorrow :P
have finished the binding & signing of a small & quick baby quilt i made sometime this winter
have made a bunch more squares for my "quilt-on-the-go" using some of the extra strips cut for the sensational strippers exchange - keep changing things around... wonder what i'll finally decide on making once i get the actual strips from the exchange
gotten quite a bit quilted on a simple quilt that is destined for japan (soft cotton front with a colourful and warm flannel backing) now i have to figure out how to finish it - will probably applique some animal(s) or something to make it fun for kids - will see
and continuing on the latest baby play quilt - baby due in june... silly me - let the dad decide if they would rather have a small, cozy and fun baby quilt, or a baby play quilt - he decided that they will not be in the small apartment forever and they would much rather have the big heavy and soft playquilt ... now have to find a way to integrate a moose (parents are from sweden) and something american (at the moment living in boston) and something swiss (will be coming back to switzerland in a year or so.... then do a little lake for the fish and ducks, do the faces, add trees, shrubbery and flowers, etc etc etc
my livingroom/diningroom (which doubles as sewing studio - as my dining room table is my main sewing table) looks as if a fabric-bomb had hit it - oh well - will clean around it for the moment and NOT let anyone into the place until further notice
