Thank you Margo, after the shock of being asked to make an all white quilt,it was a challenge, I felt it was rather special in the end, not sure I would make another one though. Dorothy UK

Dorothy, my younger son wants a black quilt. So far he hasn't got one yet. I'm intending to sneak in a little bit of colour here and there, possibly red and white, the colours of his favourite football team.

So, Dorothy, what team does your grandson support? It's Nottingham Forest in this family.

I have a secret up my sleeve, but no time so far to get to work on it. Forest had a sale last year and I sneakily went without my son. I bought a set of curtains with the Forest symbol on. They are 100% and are now waiting to be washed, cut up and turned into a quilt (with lots of black added, of course).

Try it again, Dorothy! It even took me several tries to get it the way I wanted it! Print out my directions and take one step at a time!

This a long way off track from the lady who wanted ideas for a wedding quilt, but I have had another go at the signature thing so here is hoping

I hope, Dorothy, that Berni will forgive us for going off on a tangent.

I'm doing a quilt for my granddaughter and her husband. I made hearts from white fabric and lightweight fusible interfacing and had all the wedding guests sign and place messages on the hearts. I then fused the hearts onto red squares and appliquéd them; I'm now getting ready to sew the blocks together. Of course they may get this quilt for their 5th wedding anniversary, but I will eventually complete it - lol

My son got married last August and I made a quilt using the "Celebration Sampler" pattern from The Rabbit Factory. My daughter-in-law loves hydrangeas, so I decided to make their quilt with those colors and found a beautiful line from Lakewood. You can see some of it in my profile picture. The pattern is pieced and appliqued. Lots of colorways would work. I think it would be beautiful in neutrals, but that will be on my future to do list.

I saw a wedding quilt at the 'Show and Tell' of my local quilt group last night. I was gorgeous! The groom's Mum had gone around during the wedding celebration with a notebook and got every guest to sign their name. She then machine-embroidered those names onto strips of fabric and they formed the border of a beautiful kingsize lone star quilt. What I found very impressive: The wedding was in August. She must have worked on that quilt every day since then.

I thought that Sue Garmin's Hugs & Kisses from 2010 BOM would be a stunning wedding quilt when done in neutrals!

I just got Edyta Sitar's Book Friendship Strips & Scraps and there are two patterns included that might work too. "Farmhouse Quilt" and "Blooming Baskets" done in neutral as well!

Lorchen, a little late to this discussion but my son wanted a black and white quilt with motorcycles. I was able to find motorcycle fabric that I used for the border. And I found the orange and black flames that are often painted on motorcycles (Justin has them on his Harley) so that was the accent. I can't put in a picture because it is at Dana's studio (dlquilter) She is doing the quilting for me. But it really turned out nice and there is really not a lot of color in it. Will post it in a blog when it gets back to me. (By the way my son's birthday was Tues. Jan 22 - he is fifty!!!!!!!! Where did the time go!!!! Seems like yesterday he was a little kid. Guess that means I am getting old but I sure do not want to admit it) Hugs, Ann
