I will try to finish old projects and get them out of here but like Lorchen I don't make New Years resolutions. It just makes me feel like I've failed if life happens and they don't get fulfilled. I can live with loose plans better.
Betty Ann your new photo is lovely! Wasn't your old one with the big dye gloves on? I can't picture this elegant lady in those. The many faces of us quilters!Lyndhurst, Ohio USA - East Side Suburb of Cleveland, Ohio

My 2011 resolutions are much the same as 2010. I want to keep working on my unfinished projects (three quilts are currently at the long arm quilter's and will need binding to finish and one is being pieced) as well as continuing to learn new techniques and to enjoy this past time of mine.

I also don't make resolutions. Every time I do, life throws me a curve ball. I know what I would like to happen next year. I would like to stay healthy so I can quilt. I want to finish my daughter's double wedding ring quilt for her wedding on June 11. I want to get back to my 2009 BOM that is on my design wall. I would like to quilt a quilt that I have had marked for over 10 years. My son would love that because it is his quilt. His dad might quilt it for me. I'd also like to finish embroidering my Rosary quilt. That's a really long list for me. I also have to make a vest for my son. I had just started it when I broke both legs. I also will be a thinner quilter. My daughter, husband, and I started Weight Watchers three months ago. I've lost 12 pounds so far, and that was with me off my feet for 6 weeks.

Karen, Yes that was me in the big gloves. The quilter who dresses up "artsy fartsy" for quilt shows and gallery openings is the same barefoot gal who sews in her jammies and dyes in those long gloves. I love the quilting family that allows me to be all of those gals and more. The photo was done by my husband to include in my entry of two quilt for Paducah this year. They ask that the photos of the quilts not be cropped or improved any way. Thank goodness they do not apply the same rules to the personal photos. We removed a few wrinkles. Betty Ann

Maybe I should have made the title of the thread...2011 QUILTY GOALS.... I personally find I do better if I set goals.... I do not stress over achieving those goals. They just help me focus on what I want to accomplish. This year.... I finished 8 projects plus several other partial projects .....I belonged to several round robins where I just did a portion of the work. This is an all time record for me and I think it came about because I set some goals to actually get something done.... I have more distraction (ie adorable grandson in my life ) but the goals kept me focus. I might be stretching it by having 4 large quilts on my list of this year... but I think it is do--able.
Maybe I should add progress reports to the thread.

No quilty promises, it never works out. Goals are to actually finish the BOM, and work on DH's retirement quilt. "We" retire from the navy in June 2012 after 30 years and plan to finish a retirement quilt for him by then. Luckily it isn't just me. My forever faithful and extremely talented sister will also be working on it. This past week we managed to draft the center block, shop for fabric, and assemble part of the emblem. I will probably post in work progress photos as we go.

I don't tend to make resolutions, either, but I am setting goals of completing a number of quilts (long overdue) and staying current with Ruffled Roses (and Hugs & Kisses). One idea that I got from someone on TQS (can't remember who -- I'm sorry) was to use an engagement calendar for tracking progress on quilt making. So I bought the Quilt Art engagement calendar, and yesterday I wrote on the inside front cover some of my quilting goals and listed some of my unfinished quilts. Every day, I'm planning to write what I accomplished that's quilt related. The photos of beautiful quilts (including one by our own dear Margo) will keep me opening the calendar, and I hope this will help keep me a bit more focused. Yesterday, I didn't do much actual quilting, but I did organize fabric for a quilt challenge my local group has for this year (use up your scraps), and I did order Ricky's stable stuff -- I'm going to try that method of applique for the heart stems in the center of Ruffled Roses.
