Pike River Mine Tragedy- Healing Heart Blocks

Hi sorry if I'm breaking any rules here but I was hoping some of you might have time to make a block or two for the families of the 29 miners that were killed in an explosion here in New Zealand. If you feel you would like to, go to this post on my blog, there are details and links to more information. Thanks

Thanks for that information and link, Leeann. I'll work on blocks today. What heartbreaking stories.

My heart goes out to the families and hope to get some blocks finished this weekend. Now I know what to do with the scraps from a crafter who couldn't bare to trow them out.

Thanks everyone. I know its a busy time of the year, but these only take a few minutes and will mean a lot to the families when they see people from all over the world care.

Leeann I didn't read the directions very well. I posted four blocks today that are embroidered hearts then I read pieced or appliqued. I am sorry I hope you can still use them. Joan

Thanks everyone who has made a heart. Shirley who is co-ordinating this has been inundated with hearts, so if you have started making some thats ok still send them, but if you haven't started she thinks she has enough. Thanks to everyone who has sent blocks I know they will be appreciated. If you go to Shirleys blog http://www.shirleygoodwin.blogspot.com you can see some of the quilts she has made up so far. There are more completed quilts around the country going to Shirley to distribute too. My favorite quilt shop here is donating batting and backing and also quilting blocks made by customers and my quilt club.
                    Thank you
