    Copyright Article Quilt Block?

Does any one know the name of the lovely quilt block on the article on copyrights in the daily blog? I would love to try my hand at that! Really lovely.

According to the Encyclopedia of Pieced Quilt Patterns by Barbara Brackman, that block is called the Dresden Plate or the Friendship Circle.

Thanks for the information, Margo. Does the book you referred to give the actual templates/directions? I just might have to check that book out on Amazon. I've seen Dresden plate patterns for years, but not this one. Another project to add to my "to do someday" list! Bev

No. Barbara's book has small hand-drawn sketches of over 4,000 patterns. If you do a Google search for "Dresden plate" there are lots of patterns available for free.

I am making a quilt at the moment using this block with 1930's repro fabrics. I know the block as fancy Dresden plate.

Could you please tell me the name of the book or pattern and author so I can order it? I think it is just beautiful. I'll bet it is really pretty in the reproduction fabrics. Beverly

It's the way the center circle is done that I'm interested in . . . I have the outer "plate" pattern. I guess I could draft it if needed pretty easily.

Are the templates in a set of different sizes? I'll have to check her website. Thanks for the information. That quilt block is just calling my name!

Yes you can make 3 different block sizes from the templates.

Thanks for the information! I'm going to the Jacksonville Quilt Fest this weekend and am sure they'll have the rulers there. Another thing to add to my shopping list!!
