Where is everybody??? I have to report a .8 lb. gain for this week, but it was worth it!! I just got back last night from a 5 day/4 night quilt retreat where we were served 3 meals a day of the most wonderful food I have ever eaten! I was really good with my portion sizes, and only ate dessert at the last supper! There were snacks available all the time, but no raw veggies or fruits, so I drank lots of water between meals. I did not walk while I was there, but got out first thing this morning to get back into my routine.
I promise to do better next week.
How did you do last week????

I lost 4.6 pounds this week. I did not exercise like I wanted to, but getting off all those white carbs does make a dif. The craving for the carbs is starting to ease too. I'm happy! I know I've got to push the exercise though or I will hit that slowdown and get ticked off...so, soon as I look at the quilt gallery I'm going to hook up wii active. Have a great week! Sandi in FL

Much to my dismay, I have gained 2 lbs. I thought that I was doing so well! I'll have to go back over my food log and really look at what I have been eating.
Yesterday's workout was strenuous. I have sore muscles today, so taking a break from exercising.
I'm just going to keep on going with this program. One day after another.
I hope everyone is finding some measure of success this week!

Lost two pounds. Mainly through portion control.
The weather has been soooo cold that I am drinking tea, but not consuming nearly the water that I had hoped. I fell off the wagon late this week, and my stomach just wreaked havoc on me (I will spare you the details!)
I am realizing that this is going to be effort to stay on track, but I know we can do it!!!

My week went pretty well. I am drinking more water every day. Went to Curves 3x. Averaged about 8000 steps per day. My eating was way better than last week....with concentrating on eating fresh rather than processed. I also attempted the Bikram yoga class which I could have sworn caused me to lose AT LEAST 10lbs in water!! But the scale showed a 1lb loss. I will take it! Am aiming for a better week next week! Good luck to all!

Don't forget, it's normal for your weight to fluctuate by a couple of pounds. I find it better to weigh just once every couple of weeks, or judge by my waistband!
Also, slow weight loss is a lot more likely to last than quick weight loss. A lot of the weight loss the first week or so will be water loss as your body adjusts to the new food and exercise regime.
When I lost my excess 35 pounds last year, it took from January until the end of October, but I was eating well-balanced healthy meals, not feeling hungry, and not feeling deprived. I think it's much better for your body to do it slowly and if you don't feel like you're depriving yourself of too much, you won't be as likely to get off track in a month or two.
Still holding at what is actually about 5 pounds less than my desired weight.....CaroleD

This week I only lost 1/2 a pound but I'm okay with that because I spent three days with family due to a funeral and we were given lots of good home cooked foods. Didn't get any exercise in - other than what I get from walking and being on my feel almost constantly at work.
My plan is to go grocery shopping tomorrow and buy things to make some of the WW recipes I printed off their site. And I am hoping to be off work next week and get into an exercise routine.

Well, considering that we were gone all week in Vegas until last night, the last time I worked out formally was Saturday and the luncheon for my spouse was way rich and ended with a gynormous piece of cheescake (I only ate 1/3) - - - gaining a pound isn't too bad.
We really tried to do a lot of walking, instead of taxis, but when the body starts with stabbing pain, you just need to listen, rest for an hour or 2 and then try it in more moderate amounts.
Worked today, but will hopefully get back on routine for workouts and restore the eating program to get back on track!

Carole D., you are so right about losing slowly and not weighing in quite as much. My doctor told me several years ago that weight can fluctuate as much as 3 or so pounds in a week! He said his wife (who's a dr. also) still weighs herself every day even though she knows better! LOL I usually weigh myself every two or three days--can't help it. I find when I eat dessert I usually gain weight. Sugar is poison to me, literally! About 7 yrs. ago, I had to lose over 30 lbs. due to a higher sugar count--the doctor's diet was a real killer, but I did it and found out I wasn't diabetic. I've kept most of that weight off but when it starts creeping up on me again, I work on getting it off. Since the middle of Dec. I've had shingles and I've lost almost 10 lbs. I've had to drink ALOT of water with the medication and that's actually been good for me. I'm going to work on keeping up the water intake and eating reasonable portions. I can't exercise until I get well, of course, and I've got osteo-arthritis in my knees (the left knee has really been swelling with activity lately), so until I see an orthopedic dr. next month, I'll just keep controlling portions and drink the water.

No scales here at Marlos house (still packed somewhere in the garage after the move) so I am not sure if I gained over the past 4 days or not, but I did get in plenty of exercise. Walked all day at the quilt show and then walked all day yesterday at the big swap meet in Orange County. Tired feet, but happy fun time at both places. More about that later in a blog. I find the water intake has gone down and I need to get on that today.
Food wise I discovered something since being careful about what I am putting into my mouth for each meal...I have been getting some light-headedness and found that my blood sugars were dropping a bit too low. I was wondering if I was having other trouble like maybe a vertigo thing but as soon as I added a little more food to my day the dizzy stopped. I think it is the medicine so I will talk to my Dr. when I get home again.
Probably as I loose she may want to change the diabetes meds. We'll see.
As to the "added a little more food" statement...it is likely that there has been more than I think...but I am trying to use the "Eat this, Not that" book pertaining to eating out and what is better for you to eat. I will see how that translates when I get on the scales later this week.
So far I was down 6 lbs as of starting a journal of daily food intake and increasing the water so I feel pretty good about that. Not I will be really interested in the numbers when I get back to my friend the SCALE!
I hope to be pleasantly surprised. And I hope that having some Thai food was as good a thing for my numbers as it was for my soul!

After my bingeing in the evenings, I was afraid to get on the scale but bit the bullet and did it today. No loss but no gain either. So I hope to report a loss next week as I think I conquered the evening issue. I am watching portions, going low fat, drinking more and not doing desserts. It helps to put it in writing. It's good to read about other people's success. Gloria

I'm in Houston for my regular medical check-ups and finding out my weight as don't have a scale in GA. Had gained 3# in last months. Not too bad since the first 2 nights here went to 2 wonderful dinner parties and ate waaaaaaaaaay too much. So think scale will be more friendly in a couple days!

I do watch what I eat all the time trying to eat small portions. DH and I split meals a lot. (most of the time but not when he orders fried foods).
At lunch time I went to Sears and put a deposit on a eliptical machine. Its a valentine's gift from the DH, (we talked about it over the weekend).
We live on a golf course with over 55 and there is a work out room but for some reason I would rather go from my quilting room to the utility room and work out that way.
Can't wait for it to be delivered :P
