    Found my sewing room

and cleaned it. Someone kept going in there and messing it up!!!

After I cleaned it...I made a table runner for when all the holiday stuff is put away.

I have decided this is the 'Year of the Quilt' for me. I am also giving away things I will never do or use...like patterns, kits, and fabric. I believe it is this stuff that weighs me down. A good clean out; good for the creative spirit.

My second priority: between now and June to do any Holiday things. I figure I am still in the Holiday mood after New Year's...and it is cold outside...perhaps snow on the ground until March. It would be a good time to do some those things I wish I had done at Christmas time. I will do whatever works...LOL!!

My third priority: stop spending wasted time on the computer. I am fortunate to have a great group of friends and to live in a great area. This is a personal goal for me to reconnect in 3-D and become more involved in my community. The computer has a place but it cannot take the whole space.

    Happy 2009!!

Sounds like you are starting off well. I always feel like I can breathe a little better with less clutter.

I did sort of do this last New Year and it helped. I chopped up all odds and ends into squares and made a huge quilt with those. Also finished up several UFOs as well as finished sewing BOM blocks. Rather than just finishing another BOM, I will use the blocks for perhaps 2 quilts to force my brain to think for myself rather than just follow patterns.

Congrats on your "new" studio! Sew on.

Great job!! I still have dd home from college and the in-law sibling with the in-law parents (but here frequently) so not able to get to winter sewing yet.

I love your idea of Christmas sewing done by June. I'd love to have a new tree skirt by next Christmas! Plus I usually make gifts for dh's sister & parents. Hmmm.... must get thinking!

I'm trying to de-clutter, too. I'm getting rid of some of those "what was I thinking?" patterns and also those that I know I'll never want to do--anything with paper piecing, etc. It even entered my mind to cut some of my older stash into jelly rolls, layer cakes and nickel squares. Sounds like several of us are of the same mind!!! I've just been looking at using my stash space better. I've got alot of fabrics that just seem to SIT and do nothing year after year! I'm also going to be alot more descriminating with my fabric purchases, too. Judy in Torrance
