    Myspace

Anybody use myspace? DH and I signed up to kinda keep up with the boys. It's sorta fun and not terribly invasive.

All those sites ask for much more information than I'm willing to share.

Well, right after hurricane Katrina we couldn't get through on any phone lines but the kids were able to communicate through their myspace and livejournal accounts. It was the only news from home we able to get!

I joined myspace to keep an eye on my niece and nephew. Nothing too invasive, but just a reminder that as their friend on myspace, I will periodically go on to see what they are up to. And if I see something that I don't agree should be up there (personal information, etc) then I contact them and my sister to let them know.

My 2 teens use Facebook. My son left his open on the computer lately and I spent a long time brousing. Nothing too riske (sp?) but it always amazes me how the kids now a days feel the need to put personal information out there for all to see.

They don't understand privacy at all. It's wierd! I worry that with all this information posted for all to see, they have very little to discover about eachother when they end up meeting in person. It leads to immediate disappointment when they don't live up to the image they portray on-line.

There is very little left to the imagination and relationships get very personal very early. So different from previous generations. I don't understand it and feel sad that they don't get to experience the excitement of getting to know someone new face to face.

I was trying to explain this site to my kids and told them it was myspace for quilters. Then they got it!

I use Facebook. Lots of quilters on it.

I recently joined Facebook grudgingly at the request of a long distance friend who rarely uses e-mail. I used a separate e-mail address and set my privacy to the max. My biggest fear is that it will steal more of my time as I already spend too much time on the PC--mostly on quilt-related stuff. So, I decided that I will only check on it every few days, rather than everyday, and not use it as a substitute for e-mail.

My adult son asked me to be his Facebook friend, but I now get a little too much information about him--nothing bad, but I want to respect his privacy among his friends.

I also am on facebook, just to see how my kids are doing. They live far away. But I don't know anything about Myspace or Tinkle? What are those? I am definitely interested. If there is a place for quilters, how do i get there.
