TILDA HONOR ROLL --- BOAST ABOUT FINISHING UFOs

TILDE always says, A NEEDLE A DAY WILL GET YOUR PROJECT DONE. I have imported TILDES doctrines from another message board to this one, but I think after a struggle we deserve to post out accomplishments....

POST ALL OF THE UFO YOU HAVE COMPLETED HERE... BE SURE TO DOCUMENT YOUR STRUGGLES. I will be more than willing to drink a toast to you .

I put the last stitch in my KALEIDOSCOPE 4 PATCH binding in yesterday..... it took me only 40 hours to sew the top... another 8 hours to get the binding stitched on.... IT TOOK OVER 8 MONTHS TO GET those 48 hours of quilting in to get this project finished.

I put the binding on a baby blanket that my DD made and brought over before the baby was born in March. He needs it now for the winter months coming up. It had gotten lost in a pile of stuff and I found it yesterday when I was cleaning up the sewing area....YEAH I stopped cleaning and applied the binding instead.

I also finished TWO BOMs that have been hanging around for my Christmas Quilt. ... I am feeling so righteous.

I finished my "Jubilee Tree" quilt, it was sitting on the chair waiting for the binding to be finished and the sleeve to be put down. Well now it is all done. It feels good.

I just finished the binding on a baby quilt that was supposed to be done last Thursday. I guess better late than never, right? Gloria

Gloria I'm happy if I'm done within the same year sometimes.

I finished a UFO that was a long time in the making! I've been making 6" quilt-as-you-go blocks with scraps for several YEARS now, then when I got to 59 blocks I ran out of the solid I was using for 1/2 of the block (1/2 solid, 1/2 scrappy strips) and couldn't match it, nor could I figure how to combine something different to come up with a number of blocks that would make a rectangle! Well DUH, I finally just counted DOWN & went 7x8 with a few left-overs. No law says I have to use all of them! Decent lap-size. Used the handy Elmer's Glue trick for the sashing strips and binding, and have this to say: make sure you remember to SEW everything you GLUE... um, THAT mistake will show after the wash! ops:
So, after a few fixes, it's DONE & I slept under it last night! Whoo-Hoo!! Pic is up on my profile

Florence that's a hard way to learn!

I am going to get going on this.... I have multiple tops that need machine quilting....

Florence, your quilt is beautifully done! Did you follow a pattern? I'd love to try this some day! Specially since I have a scrap bin the size of my dryer! LOL.

                    Safe NewYear!

I finished a quilt top today that I want to send to Quilts of Valor. It's all florals and they say that they don't receive very many quilts for the female soldiers. It was all stash fabrics.

I finished my TQS BOM quilt top this week too. It's on the Show and Tell and on my profile. I plan to hand quilt most of that, so that part will take a while. Seems right to finish that the last week of Dec.!

Happy New year to all! Nancy in western BRRRR NY

Nancy, your BOM is beautiful! I've given myself permission to finish the last two blocks "at my leisure"! My blocks are made entirely of batiks and some of the fabrics are tiresome to needle. I did finish a quilt top over Christmas that I'd put away for awhile. It's the Mistletoe Manor quilt by Moda. I need to baste it for hand quilting, but it sure feels good to have the quilt top DONE!!! Judy in Torrance

Yesterday while my DD was at the movies, I put Momma Mia in the DVD and pieced 2 Project Linus quilts from a stack of blocks I made out of all florals and white. My intention was to cut my stash and even though each block only used about 1/2 of a fat quarter, it helped.

If you haven't seen the movie/musical, you should. It's very fun and energetic! Who knew Merryl Streep could sing!

Today, I found backings for the 2 quilts and cut the battings too. I usually have enough around. One quilt has 12 blocks and the other has 9. The smaller will have a "minkie" backing. I found that I had about 3 yards of it and can't remember why I bought it! At least it's now going to good use. The remainder will be a stuffed animal.

Feels good to get these 2 quilts ready to quilt. After the Xmas tree is put away, I'll machine quilt them myself. They aren't too big, after all. A simple swirly meander should suffice! Nancy in NY
