I love this thread and all the great tips. I'm certainly always open to a new "way" to store it and manage it better. I will be doing a new room....don't know what size yet.....when we sell our house this Fall, and I"m so excited to take all these great ideas and combine lots of them for my room.

One of the things I did a couple of weeks ago was to give away most of my fabric, but I kept a fat quarter of each, about 600, and found this great way to store them.....finally they don't fall off the shelf and I can see all of them at a glance. Most of you probably already saw this in my Member Blog, but in case you didn't here's a link:

That's what I was going to look for while at Walmart this morning. CD boxes. I knew I should have left my husband at home. We spent the whole time looking for his stuff and only thing I could think of for myself was a new pair of pj's.

Dana, can you show us how you folded all your fat quarter? I know Margo had pictures of bigger cuts, but are there any of fat quarters? Your's came out so perfect!!

I agree that "Creating Your Perfect Quilting Space" is a great book. I'm using this book to create my perfect quilting room.

My DH put down ceramic tile for flooring. This is what we are using for most of the house. We're in the middle of a remodel! I used a light, cheery yellow for the walls. I went to Home Depot and found the full spectrum, natural florescent tubes for about $8.00 each. These are great and put out plenty of light. Now, if I could get my DS to finish my custom tables!

Good luck with your quilting room.

I will be going to Home Depot tomorrow to pick up some full spectrum, natural florescent tubes. Thank you
Today my DH put in another window and framed out for the glass slider for my quilting studio. Tomorrow if it's not raining too hard he'll be able to cut out the outside wall and install the slider. He is moving right along. I am so excited, I have to pinch myself every now and then to be sure it's really happening.

OK...we've decided to go ahead with a hardwood floor. Going to pick it up this afternoon. If it wasn't for all your input I probably would have gone with berber carpet and from all I hear I would have regretted it. The more I talk with different people they all say the same thing about it running if you get something caught in one of the loops. Thank you, thank you thank you!
So my next question is for all of you that have hardwood in your studios what do you suggest putting under your sewing machine chair to prevent marking up the floor? I checked out the chair pads at Staples and the small ones are $40.00 and they are plastic. I didn't know if the plastic moves on the floor and then marks it up.
I was also thinking about a small area rug....what do you think?

                  Thanks again,
                  Sylvia

We just put plastic disk you can buy for the bottom of the chairs. If you have a chair with wheels, they are usually plastic and I don't think you should have any trouble.

Sylvia, it's looking so light-filled. I like that color combo, hoping it is staying. What room is this off of? How great to have a husband willing and able to make such a pretty room. I'm excited for you.
