    Pet peeves

Just in general.... I hate !!!!

Web pages with the font / type so small I can not read what is written... I no longer even bother trying to read the font. I also hate when there is so much advertisment on the page you cannot read the information you are interested in.

    What do you hate???

I hate deadlines  , perfect piecers (you know who you are) , prolific quilters, , feeling guilty for not getting any sewing or quilting for me done (this one I should really make No. 1) ops: . Or yet, just not quilting enough. That's what peeves my pet!!!!!!!!!!!! Debbie

Libbi, if you use the browser, Firefox, by Mozilla http://www.mozilla.com you won't have any more popups. The browser is free and much safer to use than Internet Explorer. I've used it for years and years and would never go back to IE!

I don't like the "pizzzzzing moaning groaning attitudes" from some of my sweet family members and afew others. This was not my DH. He don't like that stuff either, grumps!
I was told yesterday that all I'm interested in was my quilting and my provisional patent. (Not True) I was asked about it twice by the person last week,so I don't get it. I was told that I had to have attention, that is was all about ME! (Not True) at all far from it. I deleted my photos on my 360 page,my two blog videos that was all about ME! I get really hurt by this type of attitude. People can try to drain the happiness from you at times. News Flash here everyone Kathy is going to sew when ever Kathy wants to sew. I do have a life apart from my quilting so I just don't get it at all. My Life my happiness I'm doing what I Love to do period. Simple as this:""You just can never do enough to make some people happy."" They need to step down from thier high horse and get a happy cheerful life don't tell me how to run & live mine.
              Kathy's Big Pet Peeve now.
              Gone Quilting!
              sorry for the vent

I know what you mean. This past Saturday we had the annual birthday bash for our daughters (their birthdays are 2 weeks apart). We do this every year - Rj smokes some ribs and we make baked beans, then everyone is asked to bring some specialty of theirs. We always invite his mom, brother, sister, and various members of his family. We also invite my mother and stepfather, my dad , his girlfriend and their two daughters, my brother and his wife and kids, and a few various friends.

Well, the problem lies in that dh's family REALLY looks down on my family. I mean (gasp!!!) my parents are d-i-v-o-r-s-e-d. My mother and stepfather are fine except that they are "backward country hicks". My dad and his seemingly endless run of girlfriends rub them the wrong way too, and now that he has had not one but two new children with his latest they REALLY frown on him. So anyway the party ended up being my inlaws in one room, my dad and his little family in another, my mother and my other friends all on the back porch AND NEVER DID THE THREE GROUPS MIX!!! Then my SIL had the audacity to complain that I was spending too much time talking to my family, and that Rj was doing all the cooking (Hey, the BBQ is his domain, not mine!), and that I was not a good enough hostess! The house was not as clean as it should have been, the garden was a mess, the grass was too high...

Next year we have already decided it - there will be no party at our house. We are renting the pool up at Fairmont State. They rent the small indoor pool for about the same amount of money we spent on getting ready for this bash this year. We will have cake, ice cream, and pizza and that is it. I won't have to worry about cleaning the house top to bottom, nobody can critisize how the yard looks, and the focus will finally be back on what it is supposed to be on - the KIDS!!!

Ok, that vent brewed for a few days. I feel much better now 8)

                  Mandy

That Sounds just like our family reunion last year,we drive for hours (4) to get there to spend time with everyone and there are groups that stay off to themselves to socialize only with each other, its kinda of funny because it's the same line they think theyre better or some thing, "I don't know". You always have to go over to them to socialize they wouldn't budge off thier behinds to talk to you. I always try to socialize with everyone but when I took note of this - I made them talk to me!! LOL! I TOOK ACTION, I got on to them all and I told them about it,((It has changed since then!LOL!)) My Aunt told me she was backwards and shy ,that was a line of crap I told her,I said; "no" you choose who you want to socialize with and were all family, well you can do this if you like, but I make an effort to be apart of the complete family. It was so funny they sat Grandmaw right out in the "middle floor" of the tables! I'm like what the heck is this, she wasn't sitting near a table just out in the middle of the floor. I had one of those "Me moments" and got my quilts out to show grandmaw and she just smiled and says there pretty,She would rub across the patterns. She had abit of old timers disease,She passed away that following summer. We didn't have the reunion that year. Look out this August!
I'm not one to think I'm better or privledged (SP) I may not be as pretty or as educated but look out world Kathy does has alot to offer. Really what gets me is they are all Christians,in thier eyes I guess were Hellians,LOL! God has smiled down on me blessings big and small and believe me I do have that relationship. I can't stand people who think God only belongs with them in relationship.
It helped alot speaking out about this to afew "the ones that wouldn't remove themselves off thier behinds, its like ya wanna be a family or not, I can visit my family and not drive so far to do it. ""Everyone trys to socialize with each other now"". So you may need to do the same tell em good. It sure makes for a better "family" reunion. Show the Love!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL
                  Blessing ya all,Kathy

It is so nice to see that other did not get to choose their family either. I love it when my sister calls on a Friday in September to say her daughter will be in for the weekend and what time Saturday was I having her granddaughter's birthday party. A couple of years ago I finally learned to say NO!

With all this talk about family trials and tribulations (but you gotta love 'em), maybe some will understand why we live 9000 miles away. Hopefully we visit, we stay, and before we can "smell" like the proverbial 3 day old fish, we leave.

Thanks for the tip on the browser. I will submit it to my IT administrator (DH) who has final authority on such matters.

My pet peeve is that we have a wedding to attend tomorrow - yep July 3rd -- take off work and the drive is about 2 hours and right now the wedding has topped 40K and they were too tight to have it on a Saturday when it was convenient for everyone. It is one of those events where you have to be impressed. Plus, we have to take my DH - 82 year old father -- who doesn't like me -- the only good thing is that my other niece is brewing beer and believe me I am going to have one!

Otherwise everyone have a good 4th of July!

I love it! I guess I am my family's "IT administrator". Nice!

About family, we moved 100 miles from family about 20 years ago. It's close enough and far enough away. Last year, the females decided we should have a "girls' night out". They emailed all of us asking which dates were good. I submitted two dates as being not good for me. They picked one of those dates! Six months later they did it again! I reluctantly went. The next date they picked is the same weekend as a local quilt show. I told them I couldn't make it as I always look forward to this show. I was made fun of for my choice. Why would I want to spend time with "adults" who make fun of me?
