Maybe with a heavier tread, it would work You could get a right angle if you can get it to work. I'd have to play with it a little more. Cheryl

Thanks for the credit. I guess I should have visited here more often this past month. I have not been doing too much sewing this past month other then working on the baby quilt but I have not had much time to do that. I have been spending less time on the computer.
The pillowcases make great gifts for everyone.. you can pick fabric special to them. I made my mom pillowcases with Renaissance Angels on the fabric just before she died. My sister had her buried with her as she loved them.
I like finding out the things a person loves and making a pillowcase that reflect their interests. Have fun making yours.

Well, I am finally done with quilts for the customers for the year, so now today, I can finally start finishing up my xmas projects for my family. We are suppose to get 6 to 8 inches today for snow. So I am going to get some hot toddy and work on my gifts labels for my son's quilt, doing some redwork in the middle of a table runner, puttin together 3 quick tablerunners and one small little bird square for hanging on the wall. But this makes very happy, could not sleep all night, just the thought of sewing and finishing projects is revitalizing. 8) . Hope everyone is sewing away. debbie

I am also in the snow zone and hope to get errrands done before it really starts to hit. Once that is done, its to the sewing room and close the curtain. I just need to get some snow boards for the kids. They'll be happy and so will I. Haven't decided on the lucky project to get my attention. Hmmmm. Maybe some pillow cases or shopping bags. I also have to work on two quillows for a friends grand daughters.
Oh Good news!!! :P Kyle was accepted to University of Maine Machias. THats the one we were hoping for. CHeryl

Here in Mid MI we are probably getting 6-12 inches. Hubby and I both have 3 day weekends... I had gotten canceled from work as many surgeries were canceled/postponed.
I have been putzing writing letters, surfing recipe sites. I wanted to make something special for the Christmas Eve pot luck we have been invited to... I am thinking my standard Marinated Pork Tenderloin on toothpicks... with some meat dips on the side. That is quick and easy and looks festive with the little decorated picks.
Next I need a recipe for a breakfast brunch ... then I will be set.
Today I will be sewing on my GS quilt... I am waiting for the kitchen/sewing area to warm up ... we turn down the thermostat at night and when I am home I have to turn it back up. I have been hesitant trying to implement my idea for this little quilt cause I am flying by the seat of my pants with the design... It is probably ordinary for more advance quilters but so far I have done several new (for me ) techniques in this one little quilt. Well enough computering it is time to sew.

Southeast Wisconsin got socked today with a foot and more of snow. I had taken the day off so spent some time this morning helping DH and DS clear the driveway. I spent the afternoon working on a "construction" quilt ( backhoes, bulldozers, dump trucks, constuction cones and blue dirt) for my youngest grandson. It's a really simple design using fabric panels for a portion of the top so made good progress. I even cooked supper. I love a snow day

In between getting ready for Christmas, I finally got my BOM blocks all squared up and the sashings done, I put the blocks together, was hoping to get them done yesterday, but put one row of sashing on the wrong side. (ending with 2 sashings on the same spot)
So with my time today I finished putting them together the correct way.
It will take a few more days, since I have to put the sewing machine away, (I sew at the dinning room table,) as daughter Dolores and family are coming tomorrow, so will have Christmas and Christmas dinner. I will take a picture when the top is done, and will try and get all blocks up on Show and Tell then.

I've been hand quilting during TV in the evenings. I managed to make aprons/hotpads/ mitts for the girls and pj pants/pillowcases for the boys and just mitts for DH. I like to MAKE something as Christmas presents and not just buy. All was appreciated.
I think I'm ready to square up those BOM blocks and work on the sashing. I think I'm going to do the narrow strips with tiny corner blocks like Sue did in the original pattern. I don't think I'll do all those triangles though. After sashing, I'll let it "cook" on the design wall a while and think about borders.
So glad the rush of Christmas is over. Now, we'll just eat ham sandwiches and I'll get to sew, sew, quilt, quilt, quilt!! Enjoy!

I have two quillows on the sewing table. One I have almost done and the other is cut out. These are for two sisters. Can't give to one and not the other. I have also dragged out some hand applique that I put aside before the holidays. So here is to a new year and getting things done. Cheryl

After taking a few days off (after a long weekend sewing) I got stuff done today. No actual sewing yet. I pressed all my background fabric for the BOM. I pre-washed and pressed three fat quarters for the first block. I fiddled with the dye and dyed three 10 inch squares and I think I finally got it right. So I might be able to dye my huge (10 ft by 10 ft) background fabric for my Rosary Quilt. (gotta get my hubby to finish the computer file for the words on it so I can get the blueprint place to print it for me. Then when we're watching tv I have something to sew.) Now I'm going to print out my foundations and get started cutting out my BOM.

I had a quilt meeting/workday today for my small guild. After the meeting was over we had lunch, and I worked on a quilt that I started a long time ago. I could not find the pattern, but had everything cut so to speak. I am doing 5" blocks of 30's fabrics. they will be put together with a plain block. I probably have 1/2 of the blocks done. This has been my backup project to take to do when I did not have anything ready to go. When I wanted to do some sewing by machine.
I will see if I can find the pattern for the name of the quilt,
