I have been putting together charity quilts today and have run across a problem that I hope I can resolve with your help. I am enveloping the backing and the batting to save making a binding. I have done this before but not too successfully because I always get puckers in the backing. I am pinning the back and then quilting it but when I get down to the end, I have big puckers. I have left one side open to smooth it out as I go and the excess can go out the opening but it always doesn't work out. I know I am doing this wrong. Any advice? thanks in advance.

This thread got buried, sorry for the pun, so I am reinstating it. Hopefully someone can help me. Judy

Hi Cheryl: yes it is still Wednesday nites, at the waterford senior citizens center. Starts at or between 6:30 and 7:00. on the 2nd Wed. of the month.
Well I am back from vaca, and I did manage to unsew my favorit table runner, so now I can requilt it, I had stippled the entire piece but the thread kept breaking, oooh did that make me mad
But now I am happy, I did that the night Hanna decided to visit us.
So now I am back to work, lots of work. But today got started with a bang, I had to bring fatherinlaw to the hospital to get a new knee, came home to find myself locked out of my house, had to drive another 50 miles to get the house key from dear hub, I am not starting work now, yuck. I am going to think about lunch  Well, tomorrow, there is 2 dr. appt. then I can go to work. Tonight I have to go and visit dfil at the hospital, won't get to touch any then either  Hopefully soon debbie

Why did you guys not warn me?

I made a small banner for the quilt show... using thread painting and other techniques I wanted to try.... EVERYTHING THAT COULD GO WRONG HAS....

THE banner is going to the local TV news community advertisement program ... to me it is really ugly although other people have said it is cute... but the technique were poorly executed and not to my standards. The machine quilting keeps buckling and the miter corners are askew... ....

.... I am bummed but I am also stuck cause it needs to be turned in tomorrow or we will loose the time slot for the advertisement. There is not time to do another one.

I wish someone could have told me thread painting is harder than I thought it would be.

Yes, thread painting does take practice just like it did when you first learned free motion quilting. I am still in the practicing. cheryl

I haven't done anything in days. We had a couple from Australia as house guests for several days and just played. Now we're getting ready to leave town after lunch tomorrow, running away from Ike. It seems to be a huge storm and will affect the entire coast of Texas. A friend up in San Antonio has invited us to come up there with our two dogs and adult cat and two 5 mo. old kittens, bless her heart. We got in the habit of keeping all our important papers in a couple of plastic file boxes, so all we have to do is toss those in the van along with some clothes and the animals and their stuff. I think we will also take our CPUs along so we don't lose any info in them. Times like this I wish we had a laptop. We got the plywood on the windows this afternoon and moved all the porch furniture inside, so we don't have a lot to do tomorrow. Keep us Texans in mind, folks.

 :? Okay, yesterday was the first time since july that I had to do a pantograph, talking about going swimming with rubber boots on, OY  I did manage to get through it.
Well, I have decide that all my quilt magazines have to go. So I have been going through them and taking out all the reasons I purchased them.
I just have been commissioned to do a quilt for a friend, for her nieces wedding. She said she just wanted squares in it, but I have picked out some patterns for her to see 8) .
                Keep stitching ladies

Okay Lady rags, have a nice glass of wine to relax then try your quilting. Usually a lot of problems are from being too tense. Stretch drink and be marry.

Pat we are thinking of you and all in Texas. Not to mention all in the storms path.

Well I finally got started stitching on my new foundation pieced project. My DH wants to know why I'm not working on my quilts for the show or something that's already been started. Well I'm doing a demo at our show on Foundation piecing by hand and I finished my other one earlier this year. So I just had to start a new one. I'm only planning on getting enough done so I have something to demo as this is usually my "something to work on while he is driving" project. I have some errands to run today but hope to have time to do some quilting or design the quilting for my miniature. After all the show is in 14 days.

                              LadyRags,
I know how you feel. I have to have two quilts done in 12 days. One is half way quilted, I haven't started quilting the other one yet. At least they are both small. I have a feeling that I'll be where you are in 10 days. Of course today for quilt bee I'm not working on either, but I'll take the miniature and ask for ideas for quilting it.

                                Pat,
I'm really praying for all my friends down on the coast. My son and his family are in Tomball (north Houston) so they won't get much but maybe some rain and a little rain. We were hoping for rain here in Manor (East of Austin) but it looks like we aren't going to get much here. I'm glad you headed out to SA.

I am in such a blue mood about quilting! I haven't done anything really since working a little on Sue's first block of the month. I put that away to start on a quilt that I really neede to finish and I never even got that one out. I have got to get going!!! Originally I could blame it on health problems of both my dh and me but I need to use quilting as an outlet. What can I use as a push my quilting friends? Help!!!
