Sewing kits from pot holders -fun easy project

    http://family.webshots.com/album/549271998FnEcGQ

I posted pictures from our sewing night. We made sewing kits from potholders and plastic snack zip bags. Easy to sew, quick , so useful and cheap. Less than an hour to sew up. The directions were in a recent F&P magazine.

Buy rectangular potholder(s) with loops and coordinating gross grain ribbon.

Sew together plastic snack size ZipLock bags at the bottom, it makes it easier to handle.

Pin the bags to the potholder center. We had 3 going one to one side and another 3 positioned to the other side of the center.

Stitch the gross grain ribbon over the plastic bag ends, be sure to secure well. This will anchor the snack bags and give a neat finish.

Sew on a button to secure the loop.

If you do not have a sewing kit for your DJ, consider making one of them to keep your DJ and hand quilting supplies in them. I am going to make a bunch for Christmas gifts. I am also planning to make larger ones placemats and
larger ziplock bags ... great for when you travel.

Pot holders sewn in half is also a quick way to make eyeglass carriers or better yet holders for your rotory cutters.

How cute and the look so easy. I got a new bag to carry my quilts in while I am quilting them and something like this would be perfect to keep the thread, sissors, and thimble together and not in the bottom of the bag.

The pot holder project ideas are very nice, I like the fast/fun/easy projects. I have made 22 hot pads they look like frizzb's! Now I'm looking for an idea to turn these hot pads into some thing else,I could turn them into cute little make up cases.

After looking and looking... I found the original article in F&P May June Issue page 8 ... tips section. I knew I read the direction somewhere but could not remember where.
