If you check my profile you will find an updated picture of my DWR signature quilt. I does not show the photo appliques I added since Rj stole my camera for his buisness trip, but there is a cute one of my kitty Spooky on the quilt top while I prepared to baste. Spooky just will not stay off this quilt!!! Especially while I pin basted it yesterday. I had to do it on my living room floor and there was no way to possition it that it wasn't covering at least part of a heating vent, so there was constantly a flow of warm air up under the quilt making it really toasty, which was nice on a day there we had subzero wind chills outside. Spooky just came in and curled up right next to where the vent was and would not move   When I got to that part of the quilt I kept having to pick her up and move her to get the pins in. Now I am off to machine quilt this monster.

Mandy, your quilt is beautiful and your kitty is precious. We've always had dogs. I love cats but my DH doesn't!! Good luck quilting it. Do you have a long arm? I don't like quilting a big one on my Bernina. Lap size is o.k. but no bigger for me.

Unfortuanetly no, I just have a Kenmore computerized machine Actually it is a nice machine, but it is hard to fluff and stuff a quilt this size through the opening. This is the first quilt of this size I have done completely on this machine, but I have done full size and smaller this way and I did finish my blazing star on it last year. I double checked last night and made sure I could get to the center of the quilt and while it is a tight fit it is not impossible. I don't go for all that rolling and clipping stuff, I just manhandle the thing through there as best I can. I am just doing a ditch quilting on this one since the signatures and pictures are the focus, so once I get the center rows in each direction done it gets easier to fit through as I can keep the bulk to my left. I am hoping that seeing me do this might convince my husband that I really NEED a long arm, or at the very least a mid-arm machine

Mandy, Your kitty looks so much like my Mitzy who passed away a year and 1/2 ago at over 19 years old. I have a new kitty now, but I still miss my sweet Mitzy!

I have a new machine that's a Viking and it has 10" of arm length. It makes machine quilting so much easier (most machines are 7"). I think there are a few other manufacturers offering 9" or 10" of space. If you are in the market, check out the Viking Sapphire. It's an awesome machine! NA

I'm so glad to know I'm not a minority by having double digit projects going

I have 5 (twin, 3 full, queen) ready to be quilted - one is on the frame now and I'm trying to figure out the pattern.

I have a mystery quilt in progress which doesn't make me feel guilty since I've gone as far as I can go until March's clue

I have 110 blocks log cabin blocks ready to be made into a king size quilt

There's that double wedding ring quilt that is calling my name... I'm thinking about changing it (my name, that is - not the quilt) ops:

I have a very cool black & white with shots of red that is really wanting me to work on it. If I change my name, this one won't find me. I'll need to reconsider that.

Oh, then there's that leftover UFO from quilting class last July. I really should work on that sometime.

But look at that pretty fabric already matched and ready to go into a gorgeous bed quilt for my dad... or my mom... or my sister... or me.

Or that kit that I picked up in Boston that looks like waves when its all done.

Or that Mardi Gras material that is just screaming to be included.

Sigh. I swear I wouldn't know what to do if I finished everything!

You got me giggling too Kimber. I hear ya, I have so many projects but of course in my mind I can do them all and keep coming up with more. You are very close to me, I live in Canton. Do you have a guild you like? I'm still looking.

                    Thanks Ritzy

Patti - I'm a member of the Greater Ann Arbor Quilt Guild. Its a large guild, but I enjoy it. I'm just starting my 3rd year of membership and many folks know my name even if I'm not wearing my nametag (another reason not to change my name ). I'm not able to get really involved due to the traveling nature of my job, but I volunteer when I can, make almost all of the meetings, participate in aforementioned mystery quilt, show my quilts at the quilt show and take classes whenever I can. There is a very wide variety of quilters there - hand quilters, machine quilters, piecers - there's even one lady who integrates soda cans in her quilts!

If you're interested in checking it out, feel free to come as my guest. I think you can come to two meetings free as a guest so you can see if you like it. The place, time, speakers, etc are all on gaaqg.com

BTW - I just delivered the baby quilt I just finished to my friend. It was a huge hit! The new mom will likely see it this weekend. We're heading to Hawaii on Thursday - getting away from this snow!!!! So I won't have the pleasure of seeing her face when she receives the quilt. Oh well, I know my friend will relay the sentiments.

Of course, really, have you ever had anyone who *didn't* appreciate a quilt?!?!

Thanks Kimber, I am going to visit that guild as one other member who lives near me recommended it as well. Hope we can connect. P.S. I enjoyed your narrative about how your cat demands your attention in another forum. My cat used to do that as well, just kept sneaking closer and finally sitting between me and the machine or the computer staring me in the face! Gotta love em don't cha?! My little one died a few years back and I still miss her so much.

Look me up if you make it to the March one. I'll be there!

Cats are silly creatures. Mine lost her brother about 3 years ago - he was such a love monster and she use to be very stand off-ish. She now has merged her's and her brother's personality - she's very demanding of attention now

Wow! I have not been keeping up on the forum recently and what fun and interesting topics!!

I am presently working on a Bella quilt for my brother's wedding in Sept '08. And I juse decided to start working on the TQS BOM - I am really looking forward to having a mobile project!

And there are countless UFO's that will get some attention at some point!

Yes I had litter mates - 2 sisters. One was big and a real love bug and the other was very small and kind of shy (pic bosted in my blog) but with a killer face. When the big one died, the personality of the little one burst out. She became my most special pet ever.
-Patti whose hoping to see you at the Ann Arbor guild meeting Mar 15

I have finished one king sized WIP and have just the sleeve and binding to put on a smaller one. I finished quilting 3 project linus quilts and need to just bind one of them. Am just about done with the hand quilting on my Santa Sampler.

Much of this was accomplished at a guild sewing day yesterday.

My March BOM is all traced, cut and ready to go. I'll work on that while visiting my mom in sunny FL.

I think I deserve to start a new project! I bought 2 yards of Egyptian cotton and have ordered some stencils. I always wanted to try a whole cloth white work quilt. It will be fun designing and marking (I hope!) and I love having a hand quilting project for the evenings. Nancy in NY state where it's 60 degrees today but an ice storm is maybe coming...
